Roly Poly Pudding Exploding Box II

Hello Everybody,

back with the second helping of my catty exploding box, made using the fabulous Nicecrane Designs Roly Poly Pudding images. You’ll find them listed under ‘New Products’.

Well as mentioned yesterday, behind the outer 4 squares there are some pockets, for which I made some tags. These tags have little printed messages, which I made up on my computer. These messages make up a little story about ‘Life’. The beginning and the end are visible once the box is opened up, the in between bits to complete the story are on the tags, so here they are …

Well, there is nothing else I can add.

If you want to copy this idea of my story, it would be nice if you would give credit to me or even link back to my original post. This little story was inspired by Boris and the lovely images by Nicecrane Designs.

The exploding box has been around for a while and I have seen it in many forms, thanks to who ever came up with this fun idea.

Enjoy!!!

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

Roly Poly Pudding Exploding Box I

Hello Everybody,

I have been working again with some of the lovely Nicecrane Designs. This time with the Roly Poly Pudding Set … and best of all … it’s about Cats!!!

My house is filled with them. I even took the images to the caravan last weekend to colour them in. It looks as it if it might have taken a long time to colour, but I can assure you, they were easily coloured, and for the shading you just follow the lines.

I have decided to split this one into two posts as there are quite a few pictures. Tomorrow you’ll get to see the hidden messages, that will bring the story to life … now let’s get started …

This is what the box looks like from the outside …

I purposefully kept it quite plain to enhance the ‘Wow’ effect, which happens once the lid is lifted …

… and the sides fall down to reveal the inside panels. My intention was to create a card/book one could interact with a bit. With this in mind, I placed the pictures. To properly view them you’ll have to turn the card. I shall give a close up in a bit.

To create my base, I started with a 12 x 12″ piece of card, which I scored at 4″ and 8″, turned by 90 degrees and scored again at 4″ and 8″. I then cut the corner squares off and with a fine line of glue around 3 sides only attached these squares to my remaining 4 outer squares to form the pockets for my tags. More about those tomorrow. I then set about to decorate my squares as shown in the following pictures.

The fifth and centre panel will be revealed tomorrow.

As mentioned earlier I coloured the images at the weekend in the caravan using my promarkers, just as well that I had some retired SU card stock left otherwise I wouldn’t have had any green to match. Next time I’d better check first … LOL. I just blended and distressed the white edges of my coloured images and rounded the corners before mounting them on some chocolate coloured card stock. The background of my base card is stamped, you can equally well use some pretty paper. I then finished off by decorating my squares with flowers, beads and swirls … to be continued …

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

And here it is my contribution for the week

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I went for an all out summery joy-fold card. It is a card sitting within another card. This one when folded flat has the air of a scrapbook page layout.

The larger card is cut to 21 x 14cm, and I scored and folded at 14cm to get a 14cm square base card. My smaller card is fixed to the base card with its opening sandwiching the smaller flap of my base card.

I covered my base card with some pretty bright papers before sticking my smaller card in place. Tip: your smaller card can be any shape, try die-cutting a circle, heart, scalloped square etc. (see my ‘Fun in the Sun’ card)

The rest is pretty self explanatory: Doodled borders, stamped sentiment, coloured in digi stamp, some gems, brad, twine and seahorse bead to finish off. The hole border was punched using my Bind-it-All machine.

Please check out the wonderful creations posted by the ATSM Design Team.

Hope you feel somewhat inspired.

Look forward to seeing your projects.

Back soon … until then

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

TARDIS the next Generation

Hi Everybody,

Thanks for all your lovely comments on my Butterfly Meadow Post. So glad you like the card.

… and no I am not going all TREKKI and SCIFI on you … but it is a card I have wanted to do for a while, and given that this weeks theme at Out of a Hat Creations is ‘Transport’, I thought now or never.

Tardis series 2

This one is for my nephew over in Bavaria, who recently discovered the joys of watching DR Who, unfortunately he is not allowed to watch it on BBC iplayer as I so innocently suggested, he hasn’t got a British IP address!!! So I hope this will do the trick.

Nick and I had a real giggle last night when I got about passing an old fashioned phone box off as an even older police phone box, hence ‘series 2’ … which in itself is modelled on BMW’s typing of cars. (BMW roughly translates as Bavarian Motor Industries). I am not so sure it works that well as a joke, but I am sure he’ll see it as one.

Here is what I used: X-cut triboss embossing folder and cogs cutting dies; Sizzix Tim Holtz Alterations Swirl; LOTV grunge corners stamps; SU feeling sentimental stamp set, night of navy card, night of navy, pool party and island indigo inks; Crafter’s Companion core-dination card; white card and nail heads from my own stash and the sentiment is one I made up on my computer.

Hope you like it. Enjoy!!!

Have a great weekend and

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

Butterfly Meadow

Hi Everybody,

back again with another Addicted to Stamps and More Challenge … and it’s Birthday time … 1st Birthday Celebrations are in order.

This mile stone was reached today. Hooray!!!

Congratulations to Kylie and the Team!!!

Now what’s the challenge this time. It’s about inspiration drawn from the following picture:

There are lots of bits in this picture to draw inspiration from … the colours, the butterflies, the grass, the cornflowers, the daisies, the bumble bee, the way the colours are shaded …

I picked some of these out to create a meadow feel …

Butterfly Meadow

How did I do this. I die-cut some with card and blended the inks for the background to start with (certainly celery, lavender lace and melon mambo by SU). I then stamped the grasses using different sets from Stampin’Up (pocket silhouettes, nature walk and charming) in certainly celery, wild wasabi and always artichoke. Using the shades of green with the darkest in front gives a sense of depth to the picture. I added some colour to some blossoms and leaves, stamped the butterfly  and coloured it in using inks and blender pen. To finish off I attached my picture to a lilac base card, added a ribbon, some rhinestones and a peel-off sentiment.

Hope you like it.

Storytelling Bears

Hi Everybody,
Thanks for your lovely comments, so glad you liked the Butterfly Babies Book. Hope you’re all well and that you had a great weekend. I know it’s already Tuesday, but never mind. I had a great day working with some of the Roosevelt Bears by Nicecrane Designs. They are fabulous, it was as if they were talking to me … telling me their little stories … and now they are walking around my house!!!!

As you can see there are four beautifully drawn images …

… especially good and easy to use for men’s cards … and here is what I made with them …

growing young bear

This bear looks as if he is resting after a day’s work and could easily be used for a ‘Happy Retirement’ card. He also seems to be deep in thought, hence my sentiment. He could also be used for Birthdays, Thank You, Miss You …

… and on to the next cheeky chappy …

Get well soon bear

As you can see it is a get well soon card. He looks as if he has a bit of a hangover, maybe that last glass of wine had gone off a bit … Like all the other images he was so easy to colour in, you just follow the lines for the shading. I suppose, you might not even have to, because the shading is already within the drawing … just give it a go and experiment.

And on to the mischievous couple …

birthday joy bears

Look what I found!!! Wonder what they have been up to … hmmm

… and on to my last card

thank you bear

… the hard working one. Maybe he earned all that money that he then pulled out of the purse … hmmm

I turned him into a ‘Thank You’  card. This seems to be the bear caught up in house work or any other job, nevertheless he looks happy enough and seems to be enjoying himself.

Hope you enjoyed my blog today and that you got some inspiration from it. If you feel tempted, please check out the Nicecrane Designs website, there are lots of images each telling their own story.

For more inspiration check out their blog.

Back soon with another post … until then

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

Butterfly Babies and Nicecrane Designs

Hello Everybody,

Thanks again for all your lovely comments, they were very much appreciated.

Thanks to the rain, crafting is high on the agenda again. 🙂

Just as well … the Out of a Hat Creations Challenge for this week is to make a Tag Book, which fitted in very nicely with some new digi stamps I got earlier this week. The digi stamp set is called Butterfly Babies Book and it is by Nicecrane Designs …

Tag Book

This is what it looks like from the outside. The backgrounds to all the pages are hand stamped by me, but you could equally well use some pretty papers. The butterfly digi stamps were already pre-coloured and absolutely beautiful. See for yourself …

Tag 2   Tag 3 Tag 4   Tag 5 Tag 6   Tag 7

These were all the digi stamps in the set. This is what the tag book looks like opened out …

Open Book

Well I couldn’t stop here … as it would make a nice keep sake present, a box was required. To decorate the box lid I used another digi stamp from the Vintage Library Cards set, again by Nicecrane Designs. This one wasn’t pre-coloured, but very easy to colour in … here it is …

Tag Book Box

I just added the sentiment at the bottom, the Medaillon image, the gems and the ribbon … plus a little bit of corner punching and some paper ribbon on the sides, which you can’t see on the picture.

I quite like those Library Cards, apart from using them inside a book, they would make nice gift cards even for Kindle editions, they can be used for journaling … hmmm … Well I won’t say too much, because I got another project in mind. Stay tuned …

Please feel free to visit Ignacio’s website and check through his designs. I love what he does and everything is very reasonable priced. Initially the price appears in US$, but if you look down the side bar on your right hand, you’ll find a currency converter and you can get the prices in £ and Euros.

And yes, as you probably guessed, I have been cheeky and asked if he would like me to be part of his Design Team … and he said Yes.

Hope you enjoyed my project.

See you soon and

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂
