Weekend Makes

Hello Everybody,

the weather here in the UK is fab!!! It is really warm and in our sheltered yard, I even managed to have lunch outside … that was after I hung the washing out LOL …

Thanks everybody for leaving me such lovely comments. I have been crafting a little bit over the weekend and want to share some of my makes with you.

Let’s start with a super quick bargain card. I was out in Wales on the Llyn Peninsula recently and happened to pop into HomeBargains in Pwllheli, where I bought the stamps for my first card for only 29pence!!!

acrylic block background

I thought I’d try and go a bit artsy. I inked up an acrylic block with pink dye ink and scribbled on it using some darker pinks and stamped directly onto my base card. I then added the butterflies in turquoise and my sentiment, made up of several stamps, in black, doodled the border, added a few splashes and finished off with some sequins.

The next two cards are based on the same idea, stamp a circle and turn it into a wreath of flowers, both cards were made using the ‘Petite Petals’ and ‘Daydream Medallions’ Sets by Stampin’Up! plus the flowers sentiment collection by Card-io.

The first card has very much a Spring Blossom Feel about it hence I would like to enter it into the Allsorts ‘Spring Blossom’ Challenge.

until then …

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

Summer Sun and Sea

Hello Everybody,

just a quick post, as I want to get a card into the CASology ‘Wet’ challenge which closes in a couple of hours. Shery from STAMPlorations is the sponsor of the challenge, and I count myself lucky to be on her Design Team. What better way to showcase her stamps!

When I read the word ‘wet’ on the cue card, all I could think about was sunshine! Who could blame me after the wet winter the UK has just had! Well, I think, it is worth remembering that the sun always shines above the clouds.

With my card, I tried to capture that philosophy plus I like living by the seaside where you can have both on the same day … the wet sea and the hot sun …

… hence I called my card ‘Sunshine by the Sea’

Sunshine by the SeaTo stamp my card I used the pearlescent Artiste Inks by docrafts and the slight shimmer reminds me of the sun glistening on the sea. I inked up an acrylic block using Mantis Green and Aqua (more wet 🙂 ) Artiste Inks and stamped directly onto my base card. I ten inked up a butterfly from the VIGNETTE Artful Flutters Set by STAMPlorations using Soft Pink and Dusky Rose Artiste Inks and stamped  my image three times down one side. I then added my sentiment from the VIGNETTE Tree Silhouettes Set by STAMPlorations in Dusky Rose and added the splashes of ink using my Colour Spritzer Tool and Pool Party and Island Indigo Stamp’n’Write Markers by Stampin’Up!. To finish I added a few sequins and photographed the card in our court yard, 2 minutes walk away from the sea front.

I had to come back and edit this post, I only just realised that I could also enter the Artful Times ‘Spray Away’ Challenge! I got some sprayed ink on the card from using the spritzer tool.

Enjoy and

Happy Crafting! 🙂

Cardmaking Contrasts

Hi Everybody,

Thanks for all your lovely comments, they are very much appreciated.

Today I have two completely different cards for you.

Here is my first card, very CAS using some of the free Easter Downloads from the docrafts Creativity Club:

Hi Chicks

I simply used one of my lovely Xcut punches to punch my border, cur a strip of green paper, attached it to my card and added some pink ricrac ribbon (Fantastic Ribbons). I then fuzzy cut some chickens, adhered a wing to one of them (bird builder punch by Stampin’Up!), attached them to my card and added some gems as eyes. I then hand wrote my sentiment and doodled a border around my speech bubble and added it to my card to finish.

On my next card I went a bit ‘bling mad’. I used the lovely Penelope Pansy image be Lacy Sunshine which is on offer here.

Penelope Pansy

I was in two minds whether to post this card or not, but then decided to go ahead with it anyway. As you can see I have used another quirky colour scheme, it was either going to be pink/lilac or the one above with its contrasting colours. For my colouring of Penelope I tried something different to what I normally do and I rather like it.

I also decided to link it up with a couple of challenges

Lacy Sunshine – Challenge #30 add a Flower or flowers

House of Cards – Cute/Fun or Shabby/Vintage plus this sketch

Wishing you a lovely day and

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

Happy Easter

I went for an Easter theme, and this time my clouds are more visible. I stenciled them on white card, stamped, coloured and fuzzy cut my bunny and layered it between two pieces of fringe cut green paper onto my stenciled card before adding a little chicken border at the bottom and layering first onto pink and then onto my white base card. I finished off by adding a ribbon and some splashes of glitter glue as my dew on the grass.

Hope that you feel inspired to enter this week’s ‘CAS’ challenge at ATSM, please pop over and see all the other creations of the fabulous ATSM DT Team.

Sketch 9 Challenge at STAMPlorations

Hello Everybody,

It is time again for another Sketch Challenge at STAMPlorations. Thanks to everybody who entered our last sketch challenge. We had some great entries.

We’re also welcoming Kathy as our guest designer for this challenge!!!

… and here is the sketch to take your inspiration from:

This challenge will run until 18th April and the winner will be announced on the 20th – Easter Sunday!

Again there is a lot of scope in this sketch as you can see from the fabulous creations of my teamies on the STAMPlorations Challenge Blog. I personally came up with the following two interpretations …

Patchwork Hearts

Tree Diamond

For my first card I created some patchwork hearts using the PATCHWORK FRENZY Graphic Squares Set which I teamed up with my favourite DSP, Love and Lipstick Tricks a digital paper from our sister shop  All About Scrapping who is also the sponsor of our prize.

I changed the sketch in as much that I used a fancy border at the bottom and stamped my sentiment on one of the hearts instead.

For my second card I arranged my elements in a diamond shape rather than a square. I also used some ribbon as part of my backdrop for the trees which are from the VIGNETTE Tree Silhouettes Set. Another DSP from our sister shop  All About Scrapping called Vintage Ice Cream Social completes the look.

Hope you like my card and feel inspired …

Please pop over to the Challenge Blog to see the amazing projects that my DT Teamies have created … and of course … to join in the fun. The winner will receive 3 digital products from our sponsor All About Scrapping and will be invited to be our Guest Designer for one of our Sketch Challenges.

These are the pieces I have created using the Blackboard/Chalkboard Technique to get your creative juices flowing. There is also a ‘How To’  craft along video, which can be found here including a full list of materials.

Eclectic Florals Chalkboard

Retro Mod Shapes Blackboard 1

Retro Mod Shapes Blackboard 2

The reason I posted three cards is that all of them feature in the video, the last one being the one I stamped, embossed and bleached. I simply added a different border and flowery instead of round sequins. The glue wasn’t even fully dry when I took the pic. 🙂

The sets I used to make my cards are: Chevron and Arrows, Retro Mod Shapes for the ‘oranges’ and Eclectic Florals for the blossom one, all from STAMPloration’s VIGNETTE Range

Well I must say, I went technique-mad for this challenge and I’ve made another two projects using masking-blending-stamping to create two stunning one-layer cards …

First up my ‘Floral Panel’ card …

Eclectic Florals Panel

Tree Silhouettes Circles

… and the second one above is my ‘Faux Aperture’ Tree Card.

The weather has been so good today, I was able to photograph these beauties outside having them swinging on o tree branch. Full ‘Craft Along’ video tutorials are available for both of these cards. The first one uses the Eclectic Florals set and can be found here, the second one uses the Tree Silhouettes and can be viewed here, both sets are from STAMPloration’s VIGNETTE Range.

I am entering my Faux Aperture Tree card into the ’round and round’ challenge at Less is More.

Enjoy!

As always there is a twist … Participate in all 3 challenges we host this month and you’ll be in the running to win this lovely set of TSUKINEKO inks courtesy of our sister shop, All About Scrapping.

Our next Sketch Challenge will start on Monday 7th April and run for two weeks.

Kathryne from StampArt Design is back with us again this week as our sponsor.

The winner will receive 5 digis from her store.

We are also welcoming the very talented Bonnie as our Guest Designer this week, feel free to visit her blog here

… and this is my DT piece for our CAS Challenge …

Bee Well

Isn’t she just a cutie??? I needed a happy feel-good-card and this little Hap-Bee Bee (with sayings for many ocassions of course) from our sponsor StampArt Design fits perfectly. This Hap-Bee Bee is sure to raise a smile and help anyone feel better in an instant.

I simply sized and printed the little bee and coloured her using promarkers. I printed and fuzzy cut my sentiment and attached it to my card. It seems to look like a little cloud/balloon. I also stenciled some soft clouds which are sadly barely visible in the picture. Feel free to zoom in, they might show up better then. Rounding some corners, layering up with blue card before attaching to my card base and adding some gems, a touch of glitter glue and a doodled border seems to finish the card perfectly.

I am entering this card into the ’round and round’ challenge at Less is More.

Hope that you feel inspired to enter this week’s ‘CAS’ challenge at ATSM, please pop over and see all the other creations of the fabulous ATSM DT Team.
