ATSM Challenge 106

Hi Everybody,

Thanks so much for your lovely comments. They were all very much appreciated.

Well I’m back from holiday and slowly getting back into the swing of things.

It is Wednesday and time for another challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More …  Challenge #106 – Anything Goes!!!

Please take the time to check out the full details of the challenges and their rules, which can be found here.

Eureka Stamps is back again as our sponsor this week! The winner gets 3 digis. There are some fab images in their shop, you can check them out here.

Here is what I made to help your creative juices to flow …

Thank You heart

I did challenge myself a bit to do something different and not use stamps. I used pretty papers and die cuts instead to make this bright and cheerful card with a summery theme.

The papers were downloads from the Quick Cards Made Easy magazine’s August issue. I printed them off this afternoon and by dinner time I had made four cards!!! Here are the other three …

Bee's Knees

Coming for a Picnic

… of course the tag can sit also fit straight into it’s pocket, but you wouldn’t have been able to see the writing.

Birthday Ladybirds

With the above  one I meant to add some twine, and then I forgot … but is still looks nice with it’s wavy greeting banner.

Hope that you feel inspired to allow your imagination to flourish and enter this week’s ‘Anything Goes’ challenge at ATSM, please pop over and see all the other creations of the fabulous ATSM DT Team.

… look forward to seeing your creations … and
Happy Crafting!!!!

Up-cycled Ink Pad Storage

Hi Everyone,

Thanks so much for all your lovely comments. I am so happy that you felt inspired by some of my recent projects.

Today I have another one for you which I ‘m hoping will do the same. I’ve up-cycled an old washing powder tablet box to make a storage box for some of my new model (which has been out for 2 years) Stampin’Up! ink pads. I know some of you will notice that I seemingly store them the wrong way round, but there is reason in my madness. I simply find them easier to use that way. I get a better impression from my stamps and I am less likely to over-ink my stamps which leads to blotchy images. Well I am quite light handed when inking up my stamps too, so initially I was very disappointed when SU changed their ink pad design and I didn’t get the crips images I was so used to. But with perseverance and a bit of lateral thinking, I now have ink pads I can use! 🙂 I only needed to make another storage for them as my SU storage won’t take it upside down. Well it is full anyway, but  I might have been seriously tempted to buy another one.

Enough of my rambles, here it is:

ink pad storage 1

This is the front view. It takes 10 ink pads and turns out to be space saving too. The pads slide in and out quite easily despite there not being any little shelves for them to sit on.

ink pad storage 2

This is one of the side views. I didn’t want any of my embellishments to stick out to much hence they’re all glued into place. I used some DSP to cover my box, blended the edges, stamped some grungy bits (Grunge Me stamp set by Papertrey Ink), attached some ribbon (SU) and my self coloured swirl die cuts (eclips cartridge by Sizzix), covered the swirls with glitter glue, stamped, punched out and attached my flowers and finished off by adding some sequins.

Here is the other side view …

Ink Pad Storage 3

There is also a craft-along video I made with lots of hints and tips for for grunge look stamping and a more detailed explanation on how I made my Ink Pad Storage Box of course.

Hope you feel inspired to up-cycle some packaging of your own. Back soon with some more projects … until then …

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

Splashing about with Ink

Hello Everybody,

Just a quick post today. I have been playing about with ink … again!

At the moment I seem to be in a pink & yellow phase, well at least that seems to be true for three of the cards I want to share with you today.

First up a couple of cards I made today …

friends eat cake

This was such a speedy and fun card to make … a bit of stamping, masking, blending and splashing/spraying and you’re done. I thought about adding gems, sequins or pearls, but it somehow seemed to start fighting with the cake hence I decided against it and simply added some glitter instead.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Inkspirational – Splash

Case this sketch  I turned it upside down

Next up is another card I made today …

celebrate you

This time I used a mix of pink and blue, some stenciling, stamping and punching and you’re done.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Addicted to CAS – celebrate

House of Cards – Add a Bow

CASology – Run

Time Out – Photo Inspiration, I went with the chevron/arrow theme and overall graphic feel of the image below

Next up are a couple of projects I made for my STAMPlorations Spotlight Post which went live today …

Shrink Plastic Liliy

There are detailed instructions on how to make this card plus a craft-along video tutorial on here the STAMPlorations Blog.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Inspirational – Splash, there are some very visible splashes in the background

Case this Sketch – same sketch as above for my first card, I have taken some liberties with it, but I hope it will still qualify

… and now to my last card …

hello Lily

Again there is an in depth tutorial plus craft-along video here on the STAMPlorations Blog.

Hope you enjoyed today’s inspiration.

Thanks for popping by and leaving such lovely comments, they are all very much appreciated.

Sketch 16 Challenge at STAMPlorations

Hi Everybody,

hope you all had a great weekend. Hoylake is calming down now after the Golf Open which finished yesterday. Luckily the weather was holding up alright apart from Saturday, when we had lots of rain, but not the lightning we were supposed to get. Did I say rain … it was a perfect day for crafting and catching up on a few things! 🙂

Back to the Sketch Challenge … we had lots of fabulous entries in our last sketch challenge, thanks to all who entered … hope you’ll join us again this time …

Next I would like to welcome my new Teamie Deepti Malik from Dee’s Art Utopia who’s stunning creations have long been a favourite of mine.

Here is our current sketch to take your inspiration from:

The challenge will run until 1st August and the winner will be announced 5th August. The prize package is sponsored by our sister shop All About Scrapping and the winner will get to pick 3 digital goodies of their choice plus you’ll be invited to be our Guest Designer in an upcoming challenge, this time we are welcoming Sue VanDeVusse from Cards by Q.

Here is my inspiration for you …

shrinked cupcakes

I have been working with the SKETCHED Cupcake and Mini Mixed Media Backgrounds sets … again … I just love using them together.

My Background is inspired by a Tim Holtz Tutorial. I found the link on Monika’s blog ‘Stamping with a Vengeance’. She very kindly shared it in her post here. It was right up my street given that at the moment I am into lifting prints off different surfaces such as embossing folders or plates, my Splodge Away Mat …. I love to explore the different effects one can get. This time I used my crafting mat, brayer, Baked Brown Sugar ink and a water spritzer. The edges are blended using Strawberry Slush ink and a shaving brush. I then stamped my sentiment in Brown Sugar, added some dots and spots from the Mini Mixed Media Backgrounds in Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana and Strawberry slush and layered onto Soft Suede and Coastal Cabana card. I then stamped my cupcake in black Memento ink onto white card, coloured it with Promarkers and fuzzy cut it. Next  I cut 3 circles from frosted Shrink Plastic, attached my coloured cupcake to one using double sided tape and attached it to my base card using 3D foam. The remaining two circles were stamped onto the rougher frosted side with my cupcake in Strawberry Slush and Coastal Cabana before heating them with my heat tool to make them shrink. Once cooled I edged them with metallic markers and attached them in place. I finished off by adding some glitter glue and a sequin to my large cupcake. Which reminds me, there is still time to enter our STAMPS & GLITTER July Challenge.

Please check out the beauties my teamies came up with on the STAMPlorations Blog.

Also just a quick reminder before I go, if you enter all three challenges in a month, you’ll be entered into an extra prize draw which this month is a lovely set of Spellbinders Borderabilitie Dies.

I shall be back again on the STAMPlorations Blog on Thursday with my Spotlight Project, until then …

Have a lovely week and Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

Cottage and Birthday Treat

Hello Everybody,

Finally I am getting round to tell you about my birthday treat from last week. I had hinted at it in a previous post, but not as of today got round to going into more detail about it.

I went to a cardmaking class held by the lovely Maria Simms, she has a place in Birkenhead which is not far from where I live. Some of you might have already heard of her, she is a demonstrator for Clarity Stamps and her projects are regularly featured on Create & Craft TV.

The class price included a stamp which on this occasion was a cottage. Now this brings me to the artsy cottage card from my last post, here it is again to refresh your memory …

artsy cottage

As I already mentioned the cottage stamp was included in the class plus I couldn’t resist buying the stencil Maria used both of which I feature in my card.

My intention was to create a stamped card with an artsy mixed media feel hence I used Mini Mixed Media Backgrounds, Holiday Artsy (both by STAMPlorations), Grunge Me (by Papertrey Ink) and some freebie stamps (dog and sentiment) as well as my Clarity goodies to make this funky card. it is simply finished off with a punched flower, bead and sequin.

These were the cards we made in class, well not quite, I slightly changed them by adding a few bits …

cottage 1

Here I added some more trees (Tree Silhouettes by STAMPlorations) to the left, I had to add the initial one to cover up bad stamping, the birds, the sentiment and some grey outlines around the cottages for more depth.

cottage 2

Here I added some hills for more depth, the birds (Lavinia Stamps), the sentiment (Sheena Douglass) and some doodled lines.

cottage 3

To finish this card I added some more hills in the background to add more depth, the sun, my sentiment (Trendy Feathers by STAMPlorations) and some more trees to the left hand side before making my black base card which includes the punched border.

cottage 4

With this card I simply added some glitter and gems plus I mounted it differently first on grey and then onto my black base card.

bonus card

This one is slightly cut down in size, and I added the doodled line, birds (Lavinia Stamps) and sentiment (Wild Rose Studio).

Will have to finish this later and add all the links for you, BBQ is calling.

Have a lovely evening!!!

Weekend Makes

Hi Everybody,

thanks so much for all your lovely comments, they were very much appreciated.

As promised here are some of my weekend makes. Actually that is not entirely correct as my first card is one I made this afternoon, the others will be the weekend makes.

Christmas in July

I would like to enter this ethereal looking card into the Shopping our Jingle Belles Stash challenge at Jingle Belles Rock  and Shopping our Stash.

To create my background I used shaving brushes, picked up some ink and swept iin long strokes across my piece of card. The inks used, Concorde Crush and Melon Mambo by Stampin’Up!, have been in my stash for more than 3 years. I then used some generational stamping in Concorde for my Christmas Tree (Oh, Christmas Tree! by STAMPlorations) and to stamp my sentiment, which I stamped first on scrap then onto my card. This gives a slightly softer colour effect. The sentiment itself is a stamp  by Personal Impressions, one of my first ever stamps I bought well over 10 years ago, and it is still going strong!

I then simply layered onto my black base card and added a few gems to finish.

Now to my next cards …

… first a couple of quick birthday cards. The only difference will be the background …

Cake1

Cake2

I started off by stamping my cake (VIGNETTE It’s Your Day) in black and masking it off. I then used a simple printing technique involving the use of my blending mat to create the background:

– apply some yellow ink onto blending mat, spritzed some water and spread it out using brayer

– press the piece of card with your masked off cake face down into the ink on your blending mat and lift off

– wipe mat clean and repeat with pink ink

once dry and with your mask still on, stamp the brush stroke (VIGNETTE Celebate Artsy) in orange, the dots (Mini Mixed Media Backgrounds) in yellow, the splatters (Holiday Artsy) in pink and your sentiment (VIGNETTE Celebrate Artsy) in black. Remove your mask, layer on a piece of black and then onto your white base card before finishing off by adding some glitter to the cake.

… which reminds me that the Stamps & Glitter Challenge at STAMPlorations is on until the end of this month … still time to enter here.

All te stamps used in the above two cards are by STAMPlorations.

… and next a card where I’ve just been playing …

live the life

More about this card tomorrow …

until then

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂
