ATSM Challenge 110

Hi Everybody,

it’s time again for another challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More: Challenge #110 – Photo Inspirations

Kylie has selected a real beauty of a picture to take inspiration from …

… well the dancer’s skirt certainly reminds me of daffodils, but you also have wood as texture, the black-grey-white colour scheme ….

here is what I made of it so far … I see some more projects coming up which I’ll have to add/post later as I was thinking again it’s Monday today when it actually is Tuesday! The joys of a Bank Holiday LOL

acetate flower

I have used black card stock which has a slight texture. The flower is embossed on acetate using Frantage powder, fuzzy cut and layered onto a black scalloped circle. The grey strip is Washi tape, and I used some silver glitter card to frame before layering on my black base card.

As you’ve probably noticed by now, in my interpretation I’ve mainly one with the flower and texture in general plus a little bit of grey/silver. The Frantage powder is actually a very pale blue which makes for a softer contrast than pure white would.

Look forward to seeing what you make of our Photo Inspiration, pop over to the ATSM Challenge Blog to see all the beautiful cards my teamies made and of course to link your projet(s) too.

QKR Stampede are back as our sponsors and you can win 3 digis of your choice from their shop.

Please check out our rules here before linking up.

Back soon with more inspiration.

Have a lovely day and Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

Sunday Play Time

Hi Everyone,

thanks for all your lovely comments, they are very much appreciated.

I’ve been playing today trying out some ideas I had. The following card is the result of my play time. It doesn’t really show what I’ve been trying to do, but all will be revealed in good time.

Daisy Bloom Sketches

This beauty is based on the current sketch challenge over at STAMPlorations. I have played with it a bit in as much that I swapped the top layer with the one below. The daisy from the Bloom Sketches set is embossed in white on coral pink card. I sponged the center with cameo coral ink and added some shading using my cool grey 1 Promarker. The background is stamped in an ombre style using blue-turquoise-green colours and the large brush stroke from the VIGNETTE Celebrate Artsy set. The sentiment is from the Bloom Sketches set and I stamped it using cameo coral ink.

Hope you like it. If like me you simply LOVE STAMPlorations stamps, you might want to join their bi-monthly STAMP CLUB and apart from the bi-monthly 5″x7″ set, which is included in the prize (that’s also including free world wide shipping on the bi-monthly set plus other benefits), you also get 15% off all the other stamps from their shop and even the pre-release offers …. which includes all the new Christmas sets due out in September. They are fab and I can’t wait to get my hands on them. Might have to stalk the postman .. LOL

That’s it from me for today

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

Happy Birthday Nonni

Have a wonderful Day!

doggy birthday

Well, initially Nonni’s birthday card was going to look completely differently, but then I saw Raffa’s picture on Facebook …. 🙂

Nonni also loves using doilies and lace which was a bit trickier rooting through my stash, luckily I found these retired SU papers, add a bit of grassy washi tape, a fence, speech bubble and the card was ready.

I made a little video on how to fold the dog a little earlier just after getting up. A day’s work done before I even had breakfast! LOL

Nonni, hope you enjoy your day and that the weather in Finland is better than here in the UK. Have fun …

Before I go I would like to remind you about the new bi-monthly STAMP CLUB over at STAMPlorations,  info is here. It is fantastic value for money and best of all no extra shipping costs plus you get a 15% discount on all the other stamp sets from the shop …

Wonderful Vellum

Hi Everyone,

thanks for stopping by and leaving such lovely comments, they are very much appreciated especially after the crafting marathon I had last week making 40 cards as a gift for Nick’s nice who celebrated her 40th birthday with a big bash in London last Saturday. It was a sort of a last minute decision …. need I say more 😀

Back to the fun stuff again …

Today I want to share a couple of cards with you I made as my Spotlight Project for STAMPlorations working with their new Bloom Sketches stamp set.

wonderful vellum 1

wonderful vellum2

These are perfect if you want something easy and/or if you don’t like colouring in. Using stamped vellum over a coloured background is a great way of adding colour to stamped images without having to get your pens out. You can find the details on how I made the cards including a little video tutorial over on the STAMPlorations Blog here.

Back soon with more fun projects …

Until then

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

Sketch 18 Challenge at STAMPlorations

Hi Everyone,

it’s time again for another sketch challenge at STAMPlorations. We had some great entries last time, and I’m sure Shirley had a tough time picking the winner and top picks. Please do join us again, we love to see your creations.

This fortnight we are welcoming Carol from Just Me: C as our guest designer, and this is the sketch to take your inspiration from:

As you can see, lots of scope here to get creative with. This challenge will run until 29th August and the winner will be announced 31st August.

Here is my piece of inspiration for you …

Sketched Blooms Poppy

I got a few poppy loving friends which has inspired me to make this card. I have been working with the Bloom Sketches set, a set I’m super excited about because I just looove the stamps in it, 4 floral stamps and lots of fab sentiments too!

I simply stamped my sentiment for the BG, then stamped the poppy, coloured it with alcohol markers and blended in the edges. My textured panel is made from cotton parcel string which I untwisted into its original strands which I then adhered to a super sticky adhesive sheet before trimming off the edges and sticking it directly onto my card. This is quite a good alternative to canvas for adding texture and natural fiber. I simply layered all my elements as shown and added some sequins to finish.

Well there is another piece of news:

Shery is starting a bi-monthly STAMP CLUB!!!! Hooray!!! Joining the club you’ll be one of the first to receive new 5″x7″ stamps, for details please click here or on the graphic in my side bar.

For more inspiration, to see the fabulous projects my Teamies have made and to get all the information about our fabulous prizes pop over to the STAMPlorations challenge blog …. and of course to enter your creation.

See you there and

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

ATSM Challenge 108

Hi Everybody, it’s time again for another challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More, Challenge #108 – Holiday. Well. this time of year for me that means only one thing – Christmas, but then again you might have other interpretations of Holiday and I would love to see them.

Rick St. Dennis is back again as our sponsor with his funky images, pop over to his shop here to see which 3 you would pick, if you were the winner.

For my DT project I worked with an image called Rainbow Angel, and here is what I made:

Rainbow Angel

I simply coloured the angel using alcohol markers and layered it on gold mirror card before attaching it to mu base card. A peel-off, something I only ever use around Christmas time, was just the perfect finish.

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges:

Addicted to CAS – Gold

Inkspirational – use markers or pencils

Hope you enjoyed my piece of inspiration. Pop over to the Addicted to Stamps and More Blog to see the fab creations my teamies have come up with and, of course to join into the fun too.

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

Cute and Girlie Winnings

Hi Everybody,

thanks for all your lovely comments, they are very much appreciated.

Today I have a piece of good news to share. Last week I found out that I won a prize over at the Happy Little Stampers Forum, link in my sidebar, simply click the picture.

Part of the prize were some adorable digis by Kathryne from StampArt Designs, and I was able to choose my own. One of my chosen digis is called Katie and I used her to make the card below. Kathryne also sponsors the current challenge over at Addicted to Stamps and More and I would like to enter this beauty into their Mark Your Mark Challenge.

Katie with Daisy

The other piece of good new is that I came across a very affordable range of alcohol markers … Tinge Art Markers …

I coloured Katie’s skin and dress using my new Tinge Art Markers which I bought in The Works for only 99 pence each, a bargain. They handle differently to my Promarkers, but they do have a finer tip which is great for detail work. The colour range is not as large either, but I still think they are a really good budget option, I just need to get used to them. You can also buy them online, where they have a better range than in my local store. I just bought some more and got a discount voucher for friends, feel free to use the link below.

Simply forward this link or share it online:

As I was crafting with some friends yesterday and we used some of the markers again to make this lovely card following the same layout I used for Katie’s card.

Freebie stamps Quick cards issue 130

Again I used the Tinge Markers to colour the skin and clothes, still need to work on the shading. The stamp is a freebie from Quick Cards Made Easy, out 14th August 2014. Got mine early in the post.

Back soon with more inspiration.

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

August Challenge at STAMPlorations

Hi Everybody,

a new month and a new monthly challenge at STAMPlorations and it’s STAMPS & Die-Cuts this month.

The challenge will end 31st August and the winner will be announced 4th September.

We are welcoming Karen from Snippets as our guest designer for this our August challenge.

Here it is my piece of inspiration for you …

Stamps and die cuts

To get some inspiration for this card I rooted through my box of bits. It is full of die cuts and stamped bits I made but never used on a project. First I grabbed the background, you may remember it from my video here from my Boxed Blooms Lily card, the one with he shrink plastic. It is the background I made before recording the video to try out the technique. The stamps are from the Boxed Blooms & Bold Sentiments set. Next I just picked out some die-cuts, punched label and a tag to see if the shapes would work and to my surprise the colours worked too! You never know what comes out of your box of tricks, it might just be perfect. I then stamped and punched out my sentiment from the VIGNETTE Celebrate Artsy set and blended the edges with brown before deciding that my tag and label needed some subtle texture. I then punched out a butterfly and daisies, edged my tag with white craft ink and layered my elements as seen adding some pearls, gems and sequins to finish.

Handy Tip! To add some subtle texture, emboss your card as normal in an embossing folder and then run it through your machine again sandwiched only between the cutting plates. This will flatten the card somewhat but will still leave you with a nice subtle embossed finish.

Hope you feel inspired to look through your box of tricks, I shall look forward to see your pieces of art. Should you need some more inspiration, pop over to the STAMPlorations Blog to check out the wonderful work my teamies have prepared for you. There you will also find the information about the prizes that are up for grabs.

Back soon,until then

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

Cherish The Little Things

Hi Everybody,

thanks for all your lovely comments, they are very much appreciated.

Today I want to share something different with you: My second ever 12×12″ Scrapbook page. I’ve made some mini books before, but somehow still felt a bit daunted by the large expanse of Whisper White card … and that wasn’t even the difficult bit … deciding on the photo was one, and finding it was a completely different story. One thing I can say for sure now, my pictures are all backed up, doubled up and all … LOL

The sorting out can wait until another day!

I had this idea that I wanted to use one of our ‘Happy Times At The Caravan’ pictures. My fondest memories are of our days on Sander, when Boris was still with us … those barmy Summer days.

We had a great spot there overlooking the field by some hedgerows, sheltered from the wind which on the Llyn Peninsula, North Wales, can at times be quite relentless. Thinking of Wales naturally makes me think of daffodils, Wales’s national flower. They are also standing for change and new beginnings, and with our caravan now sold, I felt this was a good starting point.

One thing that always made me tickle was when Boris tried to outsmart us. He always appeared out of nowhere as if he had been waiting for me to get up, so he could jump on my chair and go to sleep, which he frequently did of course … and here is the proof …

Cherish Scrapbook page

I quite like the ethereal look of the ink blended BG, it perfectly captures the the atmosphere of the Llyn peninsula which sticks out into the Irish Sea just south of Anglesey. Sea air always seems to be a bit translucent even when it’s heavy with rain and seeing a rainbow out at sea is just magic!

As you can see I have been using stamps only for this layout, Boxed Blooms and Bold Sentiments, Holiday Artsy, SENTIMENT BUILDERS Celebrate,VIGNETTE Celebrate Artsy, Mini Mixed Media Backgrounds all by STAMPlorations of course. My little venture into Scrapbooking doubles up as my Spotlight Project for STAMPlorations this week. You can find it here including a description on how I created the page plus a video tutorial on the basics of my layout and how it came about. I used ProMarkers to colour my daffodils, the inks (Daffodil Delight, Melon, Mambo, Pacific Point, Early Espresso), Markers (Early Espresso, More Mustard) and card (Early Espresso, Whisper White 12×12″) are from Stampin’Up!, black Memento and sequins from stash

By The Sea…

I was doing my commenting on the Addicted To Stamps and More Challenge Blog, when I came across this beauty …. and I just had to share it. Enjoy!!!

Stamps, Paper, Ribbons n Things

I haven’t felt the best this past week and it’s taken it’s toll on my creativity, so I thought I would take some time out from my schedule and create a fun 3D project. I was lucky enough to be sent this gorgeous Lighthouse template from Sandra’s Scrap Shop for free recently, and as I love 3D thought it would be the perfect project for a fun creative day. I found some wonderful aqua/teal papers in my stash, the colours that I love, with a fun beachy theme, just the thing for my seaside scene. I must admit I got so engrossed in my project it grew a little large for the base and I had to extend it before putting it together, LOL This is rather picture heavy as there are quite a few little details but I hope you will enjoy seeing my creation as much as I…
