Last Minute Stocking Fillers

Hello Everyone,

Thanks for all your lovely comments, they are very much appreciated.

Today I want to share some quick last minute presents with you. I made these for some friends using the Sugar Rush set by STAMPlorations and some pretty papers I had. They also form part of today’s Spotlight Feature over on the STAMPlorations Blog, where you an find a more detailed description on how I made them.

I wanted to give these calendars the feel good factor and went with a summery theme and a slight retro feel. There are some variation in colours and layout, like on my first one the ‘sundae’ sentiment is black embossed to make it stand out more …

2015 calendar 1

whereas in my second one here I played more with different colours for the ice cream and the sequin sprinkles. The papers have also a slightly different tone of colour.

2015 calendar 2

For my last one I used a different stamp and gems instead of sequins, all little ways of making each one of them unique whilst still keeping roughly the same layout.

Looking forward to 2015, I shall be making some changes in as much that I shall be moving away from WordPress for my blogging. I have decided to use my TinkerCards Blog instead, mainly because I want to streamline things a bit more. Commenting has become a little difficult recently, and I had to use my google account instead of WordPress to be able to leave comments and stay in touch. Things like this can get a little confusing hence I decided to move over to blogger completely. I know, it has its hiccups too, but at least I want to give it a go.

For the time being this will still be work in progress as I am planning to make changes to the template and layout plus moving some of my posts from here across too.

Thanks to everybody who followed me on Monika’s Blog, I hope that you will pop over to TinkerCards and follow me there too plus you will have Tinker, the black virtual cat, to play with whenever you visit. :-). I shall be putting up a blog candy, a calendar similar to the ones above, and a winner will be drawn from among my followers on the TinkerCards Blog at 10 am (GMT) 30th December 2014. 12 noon GMT on Sunday 4th January. I extended the deadline because ever since I decided on the move over to my TinkerCards Blog, I had been looking for the Google Friend Connect button and finally found it!!! YAY! Given that it has taken me so long to find the little gadget I am extending the Blog Candy, one of my hand made calendars, deadline until Sunday 4th January 12 noon GMT. I shall be drawing two lucky winners of one calendar each. This should give you all plenty of time to join and follow me on TinkerCards.

Until then,

Have a lovely Christmas!

ATSM Challenge 126 and Saying Goodbye

Hi Everyone,

It is time again for another challenge at Addicted to Stamps & More, and it is your favourite – Anything Goes!!! It is the last challenge of the year 2014, but we will get to that later …

First of all I want to wish my Teamie Carol a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

I know Carol loves STAMPlorations stamps hence I have used some of those to make this card in her honour:

and have a fantastic day!!!

I have used the daisy, got a feeling that this might be one of Carol’s fav’s, from Bloom Sketches and the sentiment from, you guessed it … Eat Drink Be Merry combined with a background stamp by Kaisercraft called Wood Panel, which I bought at my local craft shop at the Burleydam Garden Center. I first stamped the daisy, masked it before stamping the background. I then used some slightly opaque water colours, like the pastel effect, to colour my daisy and part of the background plus I added a hint of a stem. I then stamped the sentiment on a strip of card and layered as seen before finishing off with some gems.

My next card is to wish Marina all the best on her Wedding Day. Yes, she’ll be tying the knot in a few day’s time, I guess there is still time to pop over to her blog ….

Marina makes these cute CAS cards … I went for CAS with a hint of lace from my punched border (punch by docrafts), a couple of scored lines and some gems and my card was done. The stamps I used came from another set by STAMPlorations called Ever After.

QKR STAMPEDE are back again as our sponsor this week and the winner gets to choose 3 digis from their store.

Please check out the fabulous projects my Teamies have made for your inspiration over at the ATSM blog.

Last but not least, it is time for me to say Goodbye as I am stepping down from the ATSM Design Team. I have had a wonderful 18 month working as part this fabulous team. Kylie, you are a star and your enthusiasm is so infectious. I am immensely thankful to you for giving me this chance all those months ago. It was my first experience of being part of a DT. Sending you big hugs and lots of love ….

I will still be around in blogland designing for STAMPlorations and entering challenges including ATSM and ATCAS of course plus all the other bits I shall be getting up to. Watch this space!

For now, I shall be back in a couple of day’s time with some last minute gifts, until then

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

Love You Like Coffee

Hi Everybody,
Thanks so much for your lovely comments, they were very much appreciated.
Today I have a coffee & doughnut card for you. It is one that I want to share over at the Coffee Lovers Holiday Blog Hop hosted by Amy Tsuruta.

OK, I know it’s not a christmassy card, it has more of an old-fashioned tea room/coffee house feel to it. For me coffee and any type of cake always go well together….
Here it is

I loosely played with the current sketch from the STAMPlorations Sketch challenge for my layout. I stamped, part coloured and paper pieced my doughnuts slightly offsetting the icing to add more depth before fuzzy cutting them. I heat embossed and fuzzy cut my coffee cup and then stamped my sentiment in black archival ink directly on a piece of vellum. I finished by layering all my elements as shown and finished off with some punched red hearts, sequins and a touch of glossy accents.
Make sure you pop over to the STAMPlorations Blog to leave a comment. Shery has lots of goodies and prizes lined up for you to win during this hop.
That’s it from me for today, back again soon with more inspiration. Until then
Happy Crafting!!! 🐱

This and That

Hi Everyone,
Thanks so much for your lovely comments, they are very much appreciated.
Today I want to share a few cards with you which were the projects of last Saturday’s Make & Take Class. It also be gives me the opportunity to try out my new tablet which arrived today. 😉
This is where I had intended to make some cards, but hey …. Loving it so far especially as using the tablet provides me with a more natural reading position.
Back to the cards …

This is my favourite, looks like a lot of work, but is very easy to do. I simply inked up an acrylic block and stamped it onto a piece of white card. Yes, I used the one with the ridge again. I then stamped the Christmas Tree and sentiment in a darker blue and my card was finished. Tree and sentiment are Penny Black stamps which came as a gift with a magazine recently.

Given that the tree is a kind of dotty, I would like to enter this card over at Addicted to CAS where the theme is DOTS.
On to my next card which uses an Inkwell stamp that came with the Craft Stamper magazine a while ago …

This is another easy to make card. I stamped the stars in black on a piece of white card, layered on a slightly larger piece of black and then onto my base card. Doodled border, gems and peel-off complete the look.
Next up are a couple of projects using the penguin papers from the docrafts creativity club.

I fuzzy cut the smallest of the penguins and added a shaped decoupaged layer over its face and belly. I then die cut my border using my new Lil-inker dies from Make The Day Special, stamped my greeting in black and layered it onto my base card using blue dotted paper as background before finishing off with an orange star.
The next card is a bit of fun …

Simple fuzzy cutting, ink spritzing and stamping … The keen observer will have noticed that I used my favourite stitching stamp from STAMPlorations too. It is always good to build it n for grounding images. 🙂
Last up is one where I tried my hand at colouring on vellum …

Hope you enjoyed my little offering today, back soon with more makes, until then
Happy Crafting!!! 😀

December Challenge at STAMPlorations

Hi Everyone,

It’s time for the December Challenge at STAMPlorations. We are welcoming Laura Jane from After Hours Leaves & Flowers as our Guest Designer for what naturally will be the last challenge of the year, and to celebrate the year 2014 I combined several of this year’s challenge themes in one project, which incidentally rings in 2015 too … a cover for my new diary!

My inspiration came from the following challenges:

June – Stamps & Borders – scored border enhanced with gel pen

July – Stamps & Glitter – pink glitter embossing powder, WOW

August – Stamps & Die Cuts – cats

September – Stamps & Markers – Sakura glitter gel pen

October – Stamps & Embossing – dry embossed border and heat embossed butterflies

November – Stamps & Layers – all layers real and faux

I probably could have included a couple more, but I decided to stick with the obvious ones …

so, here it is, the front cover …

2015 diary 1

You know the way I like to leave myself encouraging messages around the place, well of course incorporating them into my diary cover was a must, especially once I saw the new Trendy Butterfly set which is out this month. 😀 Even better it is the set that our STAMP CLUB  subscribers get for free.

Back to how I made this … first of all I wanted my cover to have a fresh feel with texture and energizing to pick up and hold. This is how the colours came about and the idea of creating dimension through stamping and placement rather than adding 3-D elements. I used one of the leaves stamps from the new VIGNETTE Trendy Leaves set, I love anything nature … even spiders since I cured myself of a mild phobia through starting to call them Frederick. Don’t ask me why this name, all I can say is it worked! I have since discovered that they are my allies since they LOVE a good feast of mozzies and I’d much rather the spiders feast on mosquito than mosquito feast on me, but I’m digressing here …

Well I stamped the leaf all over in a colour that matched my card, I then shadow stamped the butterflies using the reverse of my stamp and once dry I heat embossed them in pink. I then stamped the smaller butterflies using pink pearlescent pigment ink for a translucent and shimmery feel, scored my border, blended the edges, stamped my sentiments in black and added a black die cut cat before highlighting the border with my gel pen. The cover itself is based on a similar one I shared here, I simply adjusted the measurements and pocket size to fit my calendar.

TIP! It is best to work with thin card or thick paper on this project as it folds into shape more easily.

2015 diary 2

This is the inside with space for envelopes, note cards and pen. For the note cards I used simple stamping and masking by first stamping the butterfly and masking it off before stamping the leaves around it. Rounded corners complete the look.

2015 diary 3

This is where I tried to catch some of the glimmer and shimmer in the sunshine of both my embossed and stamped butterflies, you can just about make it out when you click on the photo to enlarge.

2015 diary 4

Of course I had to add a little marker ribbon too …

Hope you feel inspired to pick one of our past challenges, monthly or sketch, and link up with us this month.

This challenge will run until 31st December and the winner will be announced 6th January 2015The winner receives 2 stamp sets (3″ by 5″) if she used STAMPlorations stamps in her entry; if not, she receives 1 stamp set. She also gets to be the guest designer for the February 2015 Challenge. This month with us all being so busy we won’t be doing the frequent player prize draw. We are making up for it by having an extended sketch challenge with great prizes here and of course our Anything Goes challenge for any project using STAMPlorations stamps here.

Going Festive

Hi Everybody,

Thanks so much for your lovely comments, so glad you liked my artsy Christmas cards. Today I’m getting into the festive spirit by looking at quick and easy table decorations using the new VIGNETTE Eat Drink Be Merry set. When I first saw this set I knew it was perfect for adding that finishing touch to any festive table hence we are making place cards and napkin rings, a couple of projects you can quite easily mass produce even for larger parties. It should only take you a couple of hours. Well it took me a lot less because this year we’re having a quiet Christmas with a little self-pampering to make it special.

Here are today’s projects:

I am entering the place card of this project in the Photo Inspiration challenge over at House of Cards where any card style is welcome hoping that my place card will qualify. 🙂

For a written description on how I made my pieces check out the STAMPlorations Blog here plus I made a little craft along video giving my usual pointers as I go along …

ATSM Challenge 124

Hi Everybody,

Thanks so much for your lovely comments. They were all very much appreciated.

It is Wednesday again and time for another challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More …  Challenge #124 – CAS!!! Please take the time to check out the full details of the challenges and their rules, which can be found here.

This week it’s Team A’s turn, and here are my pieces of inspiration for you:

This first one is really easy to make plus I was able to use a couple of never used before tools one of which I’ve had for about 3 years! I simply die-cut a piece of white card in half using one of my new Lil-inkers Border Builder dies from Make The Day Special. I then punched the angel from one of the pieces, stamped my sentiment (Christmas Flower by STAMPlorations) in Pool Party (Stampin’UP!), attached the pieces of white to a piece of light turquoise card and then to my base card before finishing off by adding a dashed line and gem.

For my next two cards I put my artsy experimenting hat on …

… I have often wondered why STAMPlorations Holiday Artsy set is called Holiday Artsy, graphic for which will be at the end of the post. Well I guess I figured it out now by creating a Christmas Tree using the brush stroke stamps from the set.

To start I inked up one of my acrylic blocks and stamped it on a piece of white card. This block of mine has a little ridge around one of the sides which gave a nice frame. I then placed the brushstroke on my block inking them up individually as I went along finishing off with the little circle at the top before stamping the tree inside my frame. I then added the half circle and sentiment before finishing off with some sequins and touches of glitter glue.

For my next card, I changed the colours (Strawberry Slush and Baked Brown Sugar by Stampin’Up!) and heat embossed my sentiment in copper. I also added a touch of glamour by spraying some of my favourite Gold Artiste Spritzing ink (docrafts) over my panel.

That’s my inspiration for you today …

Kathryne from StampArt Design is back with us again this week as our sponsor,

and the winner will receive 5 digis from her store.

Hope that you feel inspired to enter this week’s ‘Photo Inspiration’ challenge at ATSM, please pop over and see all the other creations of the fabulous ATSM DT Team.
Happy Crafting!!!!

A Mixed Bunch

Hi Everyone,
Thanks so much for all your lovely comments, they are very much appreciated.
Today I want to share with you a few cards I made a little while ago, but haven’t posted as yet.
First up is this little romantic beauty…

I blended some yellow, orange and red on a piece of white card and stamped a plain square in orange to create a bokeh style background. I then stamped the couple in red and grounded them on a stitched border before adding the sentiment in orange and rounding two of the corners. To add extra interested, I decided to attach slightly tilted to my red base card.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Allsorts – no designer papers

My next card is another colourful one….

… this time using a brayered background on which I flicked some water before stamping my silhouette stamp in black. Again I rounded some corners and layered on a white base card to finish.
My last card is a little less bright…

A simple wreath with flowers, leaves and greeting. I stamped the circle, die cut the leaves, stamped the sentiment and stamped and punched the flowers before assembling and layering as seen. Adding some gems was the perfect finishing touch.

I am entering this card into to following challenges:

Allsorts – no designer papers

Less is More – Jingle all the way/Christmas

Sketch 24 Challenge at STAMPlorations

Hi Everybody,

it is time for another sketch challenge over at STAMPlorations. This is going to be our last Sketch Challenge for the year 2014 and it will run … wait … until 28th December with the winner being announced on January 1st. Plus you can enter more than 3 times. What a better way to start the new Year!!!

We are welcoming Julie from Crafted By Jules as our guest designer for this challenge.

Here is my piece of inspiration …

hello leaves

… and here is the sketch …

As you can see I have taken a few liberties with my design. The leaves are stamped and fuzzy cut and a little glossy accents was added to the smaller one. I also swiped my white craft ink pad over the kraft base card to add more dimension. Apart from that it’s simple layering and stamping. I thought it would be quite fun to have the larger leaves a sort of jumping out from behind …

Apart from using the stitching from the Graphic Squares and the sentiment from the Chevron & Arrows sets I have bee working with VIGNETTE Trendy Leaves, a set from our November Stamp Release. Incidentally the Blog Hop celebration of the release is still happening under the following links Day1Day2Day3Day4 Day5. You still have until Tuesday 25th 11.55pm PMT (that’s Wednesday 7.55am GMT) to join the fun.  During the hop the November bundle will be $50 (15% off), that’s for all five stamp sets. And whilst you’re at te STAMPlorations Shop why not check out the new goodies Shery has listed, most of all the gift certificates and a couple of new sets …

Prizes for the Sketch #24 Challenge:

$10 gift certificate to a participant who uses a STAMPlorations image – randomly drawn

$5 gift certificate to a participant – randomly drawn from all entries
That’s it from me for today. Back soon with more inspiration, until then …
