This and That

Hi Everyone,
Thanks so much for your lovely comments, they are very much appreciated.
Today I want to share a few cards with you which were the projects of last Saturday’s Make & Take Class. It also be gives me the opportunity to try out my new tablet which arrived today. 😉
This is where I had intended to make some cards, but hey …. Loving it so far especially as using the tablet provides me with a more natural reading position.
Back to the cards …

image

This is my favourite, looks like a lot of work, but is very easy to do. I simply inked up an acrylic block and stamped it onto a piece of white card. Yes, I used the one with the ridge again. I then stamped the Christmas Tree and sentiment in a darker blue and my card was finished. Tree and sentiment are Penny Black stamps which came as a gift with a magazine recently.

Given that the tree is a kind of dotty, I would like to enter this card over at Addicted to CAS where the theme is DOTS.
On to my next card which uses an Inkwell stamp that came with the Craft Stamper magazine a while ago …

image

This is another easy to make card. I stamped the stars in black on a piece of white card, layered on a slightly larger piece of black and then onto my base card. Doodled border, gems and peel-off complete the look.
Next up are a couple of projects using the penguin papers from the docrafts creativity club.

image

I fuzzy cut the smallest of the penguins and added a shaped decoupaged layer over its face and belly. I then die cut my border using my new Lil-inker dies from Make The Day Special, stamped my greeting in black and layered it onto my base card using blue dotted paper as background before finishing off with an orange star.
The next card is a bit of fun …

image

Simple fuzzy cutting, ink spritzing and stamping … The keen observer will have noticed that I used my favourite stitching stamp from STAMPlorations too. It is always good to build it n for grounding images. 🙂
Last up is one where I tried my hand at colouring on vellum …

Hope you enjoyed my little offering today, back soon with more makes, until then
Happy Crafting!!! 😀

Hence I couldn’t resist these great Xcut dies by docrafts. 13 cat silhouettes plus 3 accessories should provide me with ‘cats for all occasions’! A quick and easy card to make. The sentiment is a Papermania stamp by docrafts simply stamped and decorated with my new catty friends. Oh, and I did add a couple of dashed lines and gems too.

Ooops, I almost forgot, I promised to share this link for MISTI pre-orders, the most amazing stamping tool ever. If you are not familiar with MISTI check out Iliana’s video. The World Is Your Canvas

Hello Everyone,

Have you ever felt in need of encouragement when your crafting mojo is low?

Today I might just have the right card for you …

The world is your canvas

well of course it could also be used for travel, exploring etc. Crafting is all about exploring your creativity and going beyond perceived boundaries … I have framed with some embossed lines only rather than matting my canvas on coloured card, I feel it draws the eyes beyond the world into the realms of possibility and creativity.

I basically inked my world map stamp (urban stamp by docrafts) with crumb cake and early espresso ink (Stampin’Up!) and stamped onto printable canvas. My sentiment (Create SAB by STAMPlorations, new May release) is stamped onto white card. To achieve the slightly grungy faded look  i simply didn’t use an acrylic block. I left my stamp on the acetate backing sheet, inked it up and stamped using the uneven pressure from my fingers. I added the stitching (Graphic Squares by STAMPlorations) and assembled my card as shown.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Addicted to CAS – Grunge, hoping that it looks grungy enough without splatters and spray

Less is More – three colours or Three Shades of the same colour, I got the slight cream of the canvas, crumb cake and early espresso

I can’t leave today without another reminder about the STAMPlorations Blog Hop. There is still time to join, simply click here and have fun or follow the links below starting at the STAMPlorations Blog. All of the stamps in the new release are on offer as a discounted bundle.

CAS Grunge and Girly Girl

Hi Everyone,

thanks for your lovely comments, they were very much appreciated.

Today I have two projects for you. First of all a big Thanks to Manderly from Lacy Sunshine for her help yesterday. This brings me to my first card the girly Emmmilou Boo’s Inchworm, the digi for their challenge #32, which I want to enter, the theme is ‘Favourite Colours’. I have chosen to work mainly with pink and green to create this dreamy card …

Emmilou Boo's Inchworm

I had to take the picture before the glitter glue had time to dry as I wanted to get the post out tonight. The sentiment is from STAMPlorations’ new release SUBWAY ART BUILDER Dare and goes really well with the cute Emmilou. Thought the pretty patchwork paper from the docrafts Boofle collection would be perfect to go with Emmilou’s casual look.

My second card is a CAS Grunge one …

CAS GrungeI have been meaning to use the big sentiment stamp by LOTV for quite a while, finally I had my chance. I teamed it up with Kaisercraft’s Grid stamp, Papertrey Ink’s Grunge Me Set (Larger splatters) and STAMPlorations’ Holiday Artsy set (rings) plus Island Indigo, Baja Breeze and Pool Party inks by Stampin’Up!  To add to the grunge feel I slightly sanded my white brads and tied the twine offset from my two embossed lines. To Finish I sprayed some Baja Breeze and Island Indigo to add the fine splatters.

I want to enter this grungy card into the following challenges

Additcted to CAS – Grunge

CASology – Metal, the word ‘Nickels’ and the brads

Less is More – Three colours or three shades of the same colour, I used shades of blue

Cardz 4 Guyz – Bingo Card, I went for Twine, Brads, Embossing (2 embossed lines)

Finally I would like to remind you of the STAMPlorations Blog Hop, there is still time to join in …

With only 9 stops and lots of prizes up for grabs, it should be easy for you even if you never hopped before, more details can be found here.

Enjoy and Happy Crafting!!!

Artsy Notepad Folder

Hello Everybody,

Thanks for popping by and leaving me such lovely comments.

Today I want to share with you a notepad folder I made the other day. I thought it would be a nice idea. I went all messy and artsy on the front cover.

It also gave me the opportunity to use one of the new Subway Art Builders from STAMPlorations’ May Release …

notepad folder 1

To create my cover i first stenciled the flowers onto white card before doodling the partial frame. I then stamped my sentiment and generally grunged it up using elements from the Holiday Artsy (STAMPlorations) and Grunge Me (Papertrey Ink) sets before adding the stitching (from the Graphic Squares set by STAMPlorations), cut out sentiments (Sentiment Builders), sequins, glitter and Flower. If you want to see how I made the flower there is a video here, all you need are some punched flowers, Artiste Pearleascent or Metallic Pigment Ink (docrafts) and the VIGNETTE Tree Silhouettes stamp set by STAMPlorations.

… and this is the inside …

notepad folder 2

I am planning on doing a step by step picture tutorial on how to create the folder itself which I shall post on my TinkerCards Blog at which point I will also insert a link in this post. As for the time being it will be one of the projects for May’s Card Class (Saturday 17th 1pm).

Something else to look forward to …

simply click on the image for more information …

Hope to see you there. Until then …

happy Crafting!!! 🙂

Summer Sun and Sea

Hello Everybody,

just a quick post, as I want to get a card into the CASology ‘Wet’ challenge which closes in a couple of hours. Shery from STAMPlorations is the sponsor of the challenge, and I count myself lucky to be on her Design Team. What better way to showcase her stamps!

When I read the word ‘wet’ on the cue card, all I could think about was sunshine! Who could blame me after the wet winter the UK has just had! Well, I think, it is worth remembering that the sun always shines above the clouds.

With my card, I tried to capture that philosophy plus I like living by the seaside where you can have both on the same day … the wet sea and the hot sun …

… hence I called my card ‘Sunshine by the Sea’

Sunshine by the SeaTo stamp my card I used the pearlescent Artiste Inks by docrafts and the slight shimmer reminds me of the sun glistening on the sea. I inked up an acrylic block using Mantis Green and Aqua (more wet 🙂 ) Artiste Inks and stamped directly onto my base card. I ten inked up a butterfly from the VIGNETTE Artful Flutters Set by STAMPlorations using Soft Pink and Dusky Rose Artiste Inks and stamped  my image three times down one side. I then added my sentiment from the VIGNETTE Tree Silhouettes Set by STAMPlorations in Dusky Rose and added the splashes of ink using my Colour Spritzer Tool and Pool Party and Island Indigo Stamp’n’Write Markers by Stampin’Up!. To finish I added a few sequins and photographed the card in our court yard, 2 minutes walk away from the sea front.

I had to come back and edit this post, I only just realised that I could also enter the Artful Times ‘Spray Away’ Challenge! I got some sprayed ink on the card from using the spritzer tool.

Enjoy and

Happy Crafting! 🙂

Cardmaking Contrasts

Hi Everybody,

Thanks for all your lovely comments, they are very much appreciated.

Today I have two completely different cards for you.

Here is my first card, very CAS using some of the free Easter Downloads from the docrafts Creativity Club:

Hi Chicks

I simply used one of my lovely Xcut punches to punch my border, cur a strip of green paper, attached it to my card and added some pink ricrac ribbon (Fantastic Ribbons). I then fuzzy cut some chickens, adhered a wing to one of them (bird builder punch by Stampin’Up!), attached them to my card and added some gems as eyes. I then hand wrote my sentiment and doodled a border around my speech bubble and added it to my card to finish.

On my next card I went a bit ‘bling mad’. I used the lovely Penelope Pansy image be Lacy Sunshine which is on offer here.

Penelope Pansy

I was in two minds whether to post this card or not, but then decided to go ahead with it anyway. As you can see I have used another quirky colour scheme, it was either going to be pink/lilac or the one above with its contrasting colours. For my colouring of Penelope I tried something different to what I normally do and I rather like it.

I also decided to link it up with a couple of challenges

Lacy Sunshine – Challenge #30 add a Flower or flowers

House of Cards – Cute/Fun or Shabby/Vintage plus this sketch

Wishing you a lovely day and

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

More Kittens

Hi Everybody,

back with my third post of the day …

I know I could have combined my cards, but I wanted each of them to stand out on their own.

more kittens

You might remember the image by A Day for Daisies from a recent post of mine. For this card here I used some patchwork papers for the background hence I allowed for more white card around the image. I then simply finished off with a flourish, some faux stitching, daisies and gems.

I would like to enter this one into the Childhood Challenge at Moo-Mania.

Enjoy and

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

Girl on a Swing

Hello Everybody,

Thanks for all your lovely comments.

Finally the post I promised you for last week … another Gorjuss Girl creation …

Girl on a Swing

I finally joined the docrafts Creativity Club last week and had a play with some exclusive designer paper downloads (more cards to follow later this week). The striped paper I used in this card is one of them.

So, how did I make this card … my folded base card is 5×7 inches. I cut the DSP to size plus a 2.5 cm wide strip for my layer at the top and a 1.5cm strip for my grass border at the bottom. I embossed the tree on some lime green core-dination card and sanded it to enhance the embossing. I stamped the girl on white card using black memento ink and coloured her with promarkers before cutting her out using scissors and craft knife. I then attached the rope from the swing at the top only to my green embossed card before layering it on the paper and my base card. I then punched one edge of my 2.5 cm paper strip using a Scallop Trim Border punch (SU) and the other edge using a Stitched Border Punch (Xcut). I then fed some dark green ribbon through the stitched border, added a large pink button and green bow before attaching it to the top of my card as shown using 3D foam.

I then punched out 3 white small flowers, drew some stems and leaves on my embossed card using a dark green fine liner pen before gluing the flowers in place and adding some small buttons to their centres.

I then fringed one side of my other strip of DSP using some fine tip scissors, added a touch of dark green ink to the underside and curled the fringe as seen in the picture. I added two lines with my dark green pen and attached my grass in place. To finish off I added some shimmery highlights using my favourite gelly pen.

The fun bit about this card is that moving the card just a tiny bit makes the girl swing. 🙂

Hope you like it!!!

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂
