STAMPlorations Spotlight

Hi Everybody,

First of all my sincere apologies, this post was not meant to go live when it did. I had re-scheduled it as I wanted to make some alterations … or at least that’s what I thought. Must have forgotten to press the update button as well as the safe one …

Well it published half way through my little treat today, I went to a card making class run by the lovely Maria Simms and will talk more about it over the weekend, and I was mortified when I found out once the class had finished.

Anyway over at the STAMPlorations Blog we started something new – The Spotlight Post.

These posts are designed to give you some in depth inspiration on what you can do with your STAMPlorations Stamps and they include How-to Tutorials. Each week there will be three projects for you to get your teeth into …

Today is my turn and these are my projects spotlighting the Boxed Blooms and Bold Sentiments set:

Simply Squares

Pop Art inspired Daisies

These are only two examples of the fabulous card you can make using the Boxed Bloom set. I shall be back in a couple of weeks with some more inspiration on how to use this set to make some stunning cards. Of course I shall be posting other projects in between …

You can find a detailed description on how to make these beauties plus the usual Craft-Along-Video-Tutorials here on the STAMPLorations Blog or simply click on the banner and it will take you there.

Happy Birthday Shery

Have a fantastic day!!!!
Here is the card I made to celebrate with you …
I simply stamped my background using the sentiments from the VIGNETTE It’s Your Day and the VIGNETTE Celebrate Artsy sets and layered my panel on a piece of brown card. I then coloured a small piece of white card by brushing my ink pad across it before stamping the cake from the SKETCHED Birthday Cake set using black Memento ink straight onto my colored piece of card. I then added some highlights using Promarkers and attached a strip of acetate one end to the back of my cake and the other end to the back of the brown card before layering it all onto my yellow base card and adding some glitter to finish plus a craft-along video tutorial. Here is the side view …

For the inside, I stamped the sentiment from the SKETCHED Birthday Cake into the bottom left hand corner and the cake partially on/off into the right hand corner, edged my panel with brown and adhered it to the inside of my card.

Next a couple of thing you might want to know about me:
1) Your favorite STAMPlorations stamp and why
At the moment I find it very difficult to put the Mini Mixed Media Backgrounds down, but then that seems to happen with all of Shery’s stamps. I love the way they are building blocks, when I use them I really feel like a kid in a toy shop. They seem to be infused with creativity. I hardly ever look at my other stamps nowadays.
2)  Your favorite piece of writing or your favorite book (Shery is a writer so she is surely interested in this!) and why
My all time favourite writer is Hermann Hesse. His most inspiring book in my books is Siddharta, I read it a long time ago and it still keeps on inspiring me.
3) Your message to the birthday girl Shery
Shery, you are wonderful, inspirational and such fun to work for.
Have an amazing day!!!!

Wonderful Acetate and Blog Hop Reminder

Hi Everybody,

thanks for all you lovely comments they are very much appreciated.

This is one of a series of scheduled posts to keep you inspired whilst I’m enjoying the Welsh Sunshine in Morfa Nefyn on the Llyn Penisula in our little caravan.

I have a couple of easy cards using acetate. The first one is very much a CAS card using STAMPlorations’ SKETCHED Simple Gift set. I aligned the stamps on my acrylic block and stamped the in pink StazOn onto my acetate, attached it to my grey panel layered it onto my pink base card.

For the inside, I stamped the gift only in a lighter pink  onto white card and doodled a border as shown.

Because the acetate is slightly wider than the grey card it bows up and you get a wonderful shadow effect which sadly doesn’t show up that well in the photo.

There is also a video on how to make this type of card. Sorry it’s not the most professional, but I’m still learning. I sometimes go a bit off screen, but you can still see quite well how the card is made.

Here is another card I made using the same technique over a stamped background (using Holiday Artsy and SENTIMENT BUILDERS Celebrate) rather than textured card. I intended for the gift and sentiment to be black rather than pink, but my black StazOn had other ideas …. still it does look a treat.
