In Love With Cats

Hi Everybody,

First of all a massive THANK YOU to all of you who left such lovely comments, they were very much appreciated.

After blogging all week about the fantastic new STAMPlorations stamps, I thought I’d give you a bit of a break today. ūüôā Those of you who are interested can find more details at the end of this post.

Back to my initial intention … it is an open secret, that I LOVE cats. Big or small, I must be there No 1 Fan!

catty birthday

Hence I couldn’t resist these great Xcut dies by docrafts. 13 cat silhouettes plus 3 accessories should provide me with ‘cats for all occasions’! A quick and easy card to make. The sentiment is a Papermania stamp by docrafts simply stamped and decorated with my new catty friends. Oh, and I did add a couple of dashed lines and gems too.

Ooops, I almost forgot, I promised to share this link for MISTI pre-orders, the most amazing stamping tool ever. If you are not familiar with MISTI check out Iliana’s video. It is her product, she invented it and has now finally found a manufacturer who can reproduce the high quality of her previously hand assembled ones:

This is the day you have been waiting for!  I will be taking preorders for the screen printed MISTIs.  The estimated delivery date is December 17th.  I have made this video explaining the difference and how to care for MISTI.  PLEASE watch and also PLEASE read the product description before purchasing.  Thank you so much for your patience.  It has been a long process.  You can preorder athttp://www.mysweetpetunia.com.

GIVEAWAY:  I will be giving away one MISTI, one magnet, one cleaner, and one grid pad to one randomly selected person that places an order by December 1st.

That’s it from me for today. Back again tomorrow with some more inspiration … until then

Here is my DT piece for this week:

Season to be jolly

Again¬†I made good use of the Meowy Christmas Set¬†by Deedee’s Digis, you may remember it from my DT piece for challenge #73.¬†In the set you get:

one coloured image

one layering image, which I used in my card

two papers, one of which I used in this week’s card, and

4 sentiments, one of which I used for my card,¬†… lots of scope there!

For this card I wanted to go with the gingerbread look and used Kraft card stock to achieve it. I cut a piece of the paper from the set to size, layered it on red card and attached it to my base card. I cut a piece of Kraft card, put it trough my embossing folder and swiped it with my white Craft ink pad to achieve the highlights. I cut another piece of red card and layered as seen in my card before adding the faux stitching. I printed off the cat and the sentiment on white card, coloured them in, added faux stitching and attached them as shown in the picture. I punched two snowflakes attached them and finished off by adding some glitter glue.

… and because I enjoyed it so much, I made another one …

paws itively perfect christmas

The focus here is on the tag I made using one of the sentiments from the set, the catty angel is¬†a stamp¬†I’ve had for a while.

Gorgeous Girl

Hi Everybody,

thanks for your lovely comments. As always they were very much appreciated. Yes a lot of work went into the little book from my last post, hence a quick card today.

Gorgeous Girl

Finally I made a card using this Gorgeous Girl Stamp from docrafts.

Just a quick description, which I posted on my Creativity Gallery at docrafts.com

you need: 5×7 inch folded base card, grey card, a scrap of cream, light and darker blue card, blue baker’s twine, blue button, xcut stitch border punch, corner rounder, flower punches/cutting dies, gingham paper from Bouffle collection, Gorgeous girl on swing stamp, grey ink, Promarkers to colour, white card for stamping on, black Memento ink, pearl
Punch along the top and side edge of your base card using the border punch, cut 2 lengths of twine and weave through your punched border. Stamp and colour your image, cut the grey card and paper to fit, mark where you need to stamp the scalloped border and then stamp the border using grey ink. Die-cut or punch flowers from cream grey darker and light blue card and layer as seen in the photograph. Round the corners as shown in the photo and mat and layer your grey card, paper, grey card and coloured image. Then tread the twine through the button and tie in a bow. Add sentiment, flower and pearl to finish.

Off to pack up the caravan. Back again next week with some more projects.

Happy Crafting!!! ūüôā

The Great Escape

Hi Everybody,

how time flies, it’s Wednesday again and time for another challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More, Challenge #58 – Addicted to Colours. The colours to work with are grey, yellow and black, the names below are based on Stampin’Up!’s colours.

…. not sure if you fancy working with these??? … there is a twist for you this week … you can still enter the challenge making anything you want as long as you use a Nicecrane Diesigns image …

… which conveniently brings¬†me to this week’s sponsor ….¬† Nicecrane Designs,

who will be sponsoring the next two weeks too.¬† The winner will receive a $20 gift certificate to spend at their online store. Pop over to the shop¬†and have a look what fabulous images $20 can buy you¬†…

… here is what I made for this week’s colour challenge …

The Great Escape

… as you can see I am still in my ‘I Love Cats’ mode. Again, I hear you say … but if you look closely, the card is more about the mouse who gets away … and¬†I promise, I shall use something different next week. ūüôā

The digi stamp I used is part of a Louis Wain Kitten set from Nicecrane Designs, and it is perfect for the proposed colour scheme.

I coloured my image using Promarker Pens. Wanting to do something different by giving it a sort of textured look, I allowed the image to dry and then went over the cat again using the cool grey1 marker. The sentiment is hand written using a black fineliner pen.

Just to fill you in a bit but keeping it short, Ignacio from Nicecrane Designs sources his images (as far as I am aware through the proper chanels with licences etc) and then works on them to a standard that people can buy them and craft with them.¬† Hours of work go into the images before they are released for sale.¬† They are not just taken from a website and then resold.¬† The print out quality of the images is fantastic.¬† I am just blown away by them. These are Florence’s words, but they’re also true for me.

Live Laugh Play

Hi Everybody,

how time flies, it’s Wednesday again and time for another challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More, Challenge #57 – Make your Mark.

This week ATSM’s¬†Team are giving¬†the prize for the challenge winner: Two fabulous sets of Digi Stamps

The Roosevelt Bears DSL1                           and The Roosevelt Bears DSL2

The Roosevelt Bears DSL 1             The Roosevelt Bears DSL 2

… by Nicecrane Designs, who will be sponsoring the last three weeks of this month. More about Nicecrane Designs later.

I know you’ll love the¬†‘Make your Mark’ challenge¬†and everybody is sooo much better at colouring than I am, but nevertheless I had a go at it this week … trying to give Street Art a go …. Banksy, watch out!!! … The Tinkers are¬†here …

Live Laugh Play

… as you can see I am still in my ‘I Love Cats’ mode. These cheeky kittens are part of a Louis Wain Kitten¬†set from Nicecrane Designs.

They seem to have so much fun throwing balls. Initially I toyed with the idea of turning them into fur balls (cats are known for depositing them in the most unlikely places), but then I remembered the fun I had when Boris and I were playing pawball (cat speak for football) using a brightly coloured table tennis ball.

The background is sponged directly onto my base card using a couple of stencils by Fancy Pants Designs and real red, gumball¬†green & summer starfruit inks by Stampin’Up!

I coloured my image using Promarker Pens. The sentiment is hand written and it’s background coloured¬†using¬†Promarker Pens, the panel itself is edged using a black stamp’n’write marker (SU). For an extra twist I decided to cut my image out using my deckle scissors. I also gave the sentiment panel two edges using the same scissors. Adding a clip. flower brad and twine finishes the card off just fine …

Victor and Vanquished

Hello Everybody,

Thanks for popping by and all your lovely comments, they were very much appreciated.

Bach again with¬†some more cards using the lovely Nicecrane Designs¬†Images.¬†This time it’s for the second helping and the final two of¬†The Adorable Louis Wain Kittens.¬†

Let’s start with ‘The Victor’ …

The Victor I

… a somewhat battered and bruised happy chappy … much admired …

The Victor II

… as you can see. The inspiration for this card cam from some catty playtime, climbing up the neighbour’s willow tree. I also wanted to give the card a look of adventure and exploration of unchartered territories. That’s why I chose to make a lever card following Laura Lippe’s tutorial, but I changed the dimensions to suit me.

The Victor III

And now to The Vanquished ….

The Vanquished

… the one who got beaten by the elements and is lost at sea. The shadow box card style gives it the air of a picture frame on the mantle piece. Click here for the shadow box card tutorial. I wrote the instructions myself adding lots of pictures, which would have been too much for this post.

Hope you enjoyed the catty journey, back next week with some more catty adventures …¬†in the meantime feel free to¬†pop by the Nicecrane Designs Blog for more inspiration.

Have a great day and

Happy Crafting!!! ūüôā

Adorable Kittens

Hello Everybody,

Thanks for popping by and all your lovely comments, they were very much appreciated.

Bach again with some more cards using the lovely Nicecrane Designs¬†Images.¬†This time I am using some catty ones …¬†The Adorable Louis Wain Kittens. As you know, I am simply unable to resist anything catty, especially anything as cute as these adorable kittens.

For today’s post I am using 3 of the 5 images, the other two will follow tomorrow.

Lady’s first … so here we go … The Belle of the Ball on a bed of roses …

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

These images are so nice that I feel reluctant to add lots and lots of embellishments. For ‘Belle’ I decided to use some pretty paper for the background and some feathers for her fan. I then simply added a brad, some die-cut swirls, thanks Sue for your lovely present, and gems. As always my choice of colours has been inspired by the image itself. I really find the colours¬†of the pre-coloured¬†Nicecrane Designs’ stamps easy to match to card and papers that are currently available in the shops.

Keeping with the musical theme … here is the world¬†famous tenor Cattos …

Tenor

For Cattos, I did some decoupage. I simply printed the image twice and cut out the song sheet with part of his arm and layered it slightly offset to give more depth. Everything else was pretty straight forward, mat and layer with pretty papers and borders plus some chip board shapes for some extra interest and a touch of glitter glue to finish.

… hmmm … wonder if he is singing for ‘Belle’ ….

One thing is sure, he won’t be singing for this little fellow …

tooth ache

… who is somewhat bed bound at home. I die-cut the image with some oval nesties and blended the edges with some blue ink before matting it on an oval deckle cut piece of blue card. I then put some core-dinations card through an embossing folder, thanks again Sue for being so generous, and adhered it to my blue base card. I then cut out the sentiment which was part of the original image, stamped and cut out the ‘get well’ sentiment before assembling the card as shown and finishing off with some sparkly flowers.

Hope you like it! The two projects for tomorrow are a bit more involved. Please pop in again. In the meantime feel free to pop by the Nicecrane Designs Blog for more inspiration.

Have a great day and

Happy Crafting!!! ūüôā

Roly Poly Pudding Exploding Box II

Hello Everybody,

back with¬†the second helping of my catty exploding box, made using the fabulous Nicecrane Designs Roly Poly Pudding images. You’ll find them listed under ‘New Products’.

inside box all

Well as mentioned yesterday, behind the outer 4 squares there are some pockets, for which I made some tags. These tags have little printed messages, which I made up on my computer. These messages make up a little story about ‘Life’. The beginning and the end are visible once the box is opened up, the in between bits to complete the story are on the tags, so here they are …

inside V   inside VIinside VII   inside VIIinside IX

Well, there is nothing else I can add.

If you want to copy this idea of my story, it would be nice if you would give credit to me or even link back to my original post. This little story was inspired by Boris and the lovely images by Nicecrane Designs.

The exploding box has been around for a while and I have seen it in many forms, thanks to who ever came up with this fun idea.

Enjoy!!!

Happy Crafting!!! ūüôā

Roly Poly Pudding Exploding Box I

Hello Everybody,

I have been working again with some of the lovely Nicecrane Designs. This time with the Roly Poly Pudding Set … and best of all … it’s about Cats!!!

My house is filled with them. I even took the images to the caravan last weekend to colour them in. It looks as it if it might have taken a long time to colour, but I can assure you, they were easily coloured, and for the shading you just follow the lines.

I have decided to split this one into two posts as there are quite a few pictures. Tomorrow you’ll get to see the hidden messages, that will bring the story to life¬†…¬†now let’s get started …

This is what the box looks like from the outside …

outside exploding boxtop of lid exploding box

I purposefully kept it quite plain to enhance the ‘Wow’ effect, which happens once the lid is lifted …

inside box all

… and the sides fall down to reveal the inside panels. My intention was to create a card/book one could interact with a bit. With this in mind, I placed the pictures. To properly view them you’ll have to turn the card. I shall give a close up in a bit.

To create my base, I started with a 12 x 12″ piece of card, which I scored at 4″ and 8″, turned by 90 degrees and scored again at 4″ and 8″. I then cut the corner squares off and with a fine line of glue around 3 sides only attached these squares to my remaining 4 outer squares to form the pockets for my tags. More about those tomorrow. I then set about to decorate my squares as shown in the following pictures.

inside box Iinside box IIinside box IIIinside box iV

The fifth and centre panel will be revealed tomorrow.

As mentioned earlier I coloured the images at the weekend in the caravan using my promarkers, just as well that I had some retired SU card stock left otherwise I wouldn’t have had any green to match. Next time I’d better check first … LOL. I just blended and distressed the white edges of my coloured images and rounded the corners before mounting them on some chocolate¬†coloured card stock. The background of my base card is stamped, you can equally well use some pretty paper. I then finished off by decorating my squares with flowers, beads and¬†swirls … to be continued …

Happy Crafting!!! ūüôā
