Going Festive

Hi Everybody,

Thanks so much for your lovely comments, so glad you liked my artsy Christmas cards. Today I’m getting into the festive spirit by looking at quick and easy table decorations using the new VIGNETTE Eat Drink Be Merry set. When I first saw this set I knew it was perfect for adding that finishing touch to any festive table hence we are making place cards and napkin rings, a couple of projects you can quite easily mass produce even for larger parties. It should only take you a couple of hours. Well it took me a lot less because this year we’re having a quiet Christmas with a little self-pampering to make it special.

Here are today’s projects:

I am entering the place card of this project in the Photo Inspiration challenge over at House of Cards where any card style is welcome hoping that my place card will qualify. 🙂

For a written description on how I made my pieces check out the STAMPlorations Blog here plus I made a little craft along video giving my usual pointers as I go along …

Before I go, just a quick reminder about the STAMPlorations DT call, if you’re interested in joining this amazingly creative team, check out the details here.

Also the new STAMP CLUB sets are out soon, one of which I’ll be using in tomorrow’s project ….

until then …

Happy Crafting 🙂

Box in a Box

Hello Everybody,

first of all: Thanks for all your lovely comments!!!

Next week I am meeting up with a friend for some crafting and today was planning day. I thought I’d do something a bit unusual and took some inspiration from The Ultimate Pro DVD (Crafter’s Companion) to craft a Box in a Box. Given that I was just that bit too late for entering my ‘Stash Raider Boxes’ into last week’s challenge at ‘Out of a Hat Creations’, I designed the whole project in ‘Black & White plus silver’ … and now I am able and in plenty of time to enter this week’s challenge 🙂 … which is ‘Black & White plus one colour’.

As you can see I have gone for a Christmas Theme with embossed mirri card and glitzy embossing powder. I was quite surprised as to how well the mirri card embossed, it has a kind of foil look about it which I like. Again I have been raiding stash as most of the materials and tools I used have been sitting in my cupboards for at least a couple of years. I am really enjoying looking through my bits and appreciating what I got.

Of course there is also another twist to it, I am also sorting some things out to go on eBay, some bits are already on … fingers crossed ….

… now back to the box. I am sure you want to know what it is like on the inside .. here we go

I think this box definitely has the ‘wow factor’ and I shall be making more of them. …and because I enjoyed crafting today how better to end than by making a matching card

This time I embossed some black core-dination card rather than the mirri card.

Here is what I used: mirri card, silver satin ribbon, white organza ribbon, rhinestone gems, Stikkles white lace glitter glue, sparkly silver and white embossing powder, versamark, versafine black and silver background inks, white card stock, white card blank, mirri card, Sizzix snowflake embossing folder from my own stash; Stampendous Timeless Tags stamp set from Creative Pastimes; Black & White Designer paper (retired SU), Contempo Christmas and Mixed bunch stamp sets, blossom punch, white craft ink, rhinestone brad, black & white ribbon from Stampin’UP!; snowflake punch from Creative Memories; Wild Rose Studio snowflake stamp set from Handy Hippo

That’s it from me for today

Back again soon

Happy Crafting 🙂

Ice Cream & Dream

Hello Everybody!

How time flies. I so looked forward to going to the HobbyCraft Fair at Aintree … and now it’s all over. Well Alison spoke to one of the exhibitors and they mentioned that it was the last one at Aintree because it’s moving to Manchester’s Event City. Apparently it is going to be on a larger scale with more space for demonstrations and make & takes. Would be great if there was a train station right outside. will have to find that one out.

Never mind, I was able to bag a bargain or two … I had to make a quick couple of bits for the craft fair yesterday and I managed to create these funky covered notepads … the delights of summer in a handbag …

… strawberry ice cream and picnics. I can just hear you say dream on. 🙂  The ice cream punch was one of the bargains and all I used were some pretty papers, funnily enough they came from a pack called picnic in the park I think it was and I got them last year with a magazine, the pink paper is from Wild rose Studio … add a bit of glitter glue …  and you have delicious ice cream.

The other punch, again a bargain, is one of the new Tonic Studio Border punches and it is a delight to use. The label punch is from Stampin’UP!

Unfortunately the fair wasn’t busy, on the upside I now got plenty of stock left for next month (26th May), and all I have to do is work on the presentation.

Tomorrow I am seeing Dianne and Fanny for a crafty exchange. I know one of the things I will do, but I am still looking for inspiration for the other one. This is where I am starting to dream … maybe I need some magic here …

I worked with my homemade spray inks to create the background. The stamps I used are from Lily of the Valley (LOTV) and Penny Black; the punch is from Creative Memories; early espresso cardstock, peach parfait and pumpkin pie inks from Stampin’UP!; everything else from your local craft shop.

Hope you like it. Back again later in the week for the Out of a Hat Creations Challenge. Until then…

Happy Crafting!!!

🙂

Oh, I almost forgot, I also updated the Stamping Classes page with new dates. xxx
