Happy Birthday Debra

Hi Everybody,

My STAMPlorations Teamie Debra is celebrating her birthday today and here is my card to celebrate with her …

Debra's Birthday Card

Debra loves the SKETCHED Cupcake stamp, hence I used it to make her card taking inspiration from our current sketch challenge over at the STAMPlorations Blog. I combined it with two of the sentiments from the MOM Subway Art Builders #2 – Grace In Each Step, which I used to stamp my background in a pale pink (Pink Pirouette ink by Stampin’Up!) plus the BIRTHDAY sentiment from the VIGNETTE Chevron & Arrows set. Add to this a bit of Washi Tape, a HAPPY die cut (Happy word die by Clearly Besotted; Elegant Eggplant card from Stampin’Up!), a plain oval die cut and some gems … and your card is done.

Well, Debra, hope you’re having a great time.

This is it from me for now, back again tomorrow with some more inspiration … until then

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

Sketch 16 Challenge at STAMPlorations

Hi Everybody,

hope you all had a great weekend. Hoylake is calming down now after the Golf Open which finished yesterday. Luckily the weather was holding up alright apart from Saturday, when we had lots of rain, but not the lightning we were supposed to get. Did I say rain … it was a perfect day for crafting and catching up on a few things! 🙂

Back to the Sketch Challenge … we had lots of fabulous entries in our last sketch challenge, thanks to all who entered … hope you’ll join us again this time …

Next I would like to welcome my new Teamie Deepti Malik from Dee’s Art Utopia who’s stunning creations have long been a favourite of mine.

Here is our current sketch to take your inspiration from:

The challenge will run until 1st August and the winner will be announced 5th August. The prize package is sponsored by our sister shop All About Scrapping and the winner will get to pick 3 digital goodies of their choice plus you’ll be invited to be our Guest Designer in an upcoming challenge, this time we are welcoming Sue VanDeVusse from Cards by Q.

Here is my inspiration for you …

shrinked cupcakes

I have been working with the SKETCHED Cupcake and Mini Mixed Media Backgrounds sets … again … I just love using them together.

My Background is inspired by a Tim Holtz Tutorial. I found the link on Monika’s blog ‘Stamping with a Vengeance’. She very kindly shared it in her post here. It was right up my street given that at the moment I am into lifting prints off different surfaces such as embossing folders or plates, my Splodge Away Mat …. I love to explore the different effects one can get. This time I used my crafting mat, brayer, Baked Brown Sugar ink and a water spritzer. The edges are blended using Strawberry Slush ink and a shaving brush. I then stamped my sentiment in Brown Sugar, added some dots and spots from the Mini Mixed Media Backgrounds in Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana and Strawberry slush and layered onto Soft Suede and Coastal Cabana card. I then stamped my cupcake in black Memento ink onto white card, coloured it with Promarkers and fuzzy cut it. Next  I cut 3 circles from frosted Shrink Plastic, attached my coloured cupcake to one using double sided tape and attached it to my base card using 3D foam. The remaining two circles were stamped onto the rougher frosted side with my cupcake in Strawberry Slush and Coastal Cabana before heating them with my heat tool to make them shrink. Once cooled I edged them with metallic markers and attached them in place. I finished off by adding some glitter glue and a sequin to my large cupcake. Which reminds me, there is still time to enter our STAMPS & GLITTER July Challenge.

Please check out the beauties my teamies came up with on the STAMPlorations Blog.

Also just a quick reminder before I go, if you enter all three challenges in a month, you’ll be entered into an extra prize draw which this month is a lovely set of Spellbinders Borderabilitie Dies.

I shall be back again on the STAMPlorations Blog on Thursday with my Spotlight Project, until then …

Have a lovely week and Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

Stamps and Glitter

Hi Everyone,

first of all Happy Independence Day to all My American friends!

and thanks to everyone who took part in the STAMPlorations Birthday Blog Hop!

And now it’s time for another monthly challenge at STAMPlorations. The theme for the month of July is

which is very fitting given that so many lovely people adding so much sparkle to people’s lives are born in July ….

This challenge will run until 31st July and our winner will be announced 6th August.

Here is my DT piece:

Birthday Cupcake

I have been working with some of the new July sets: VIGNETTE Celebrate Artsy, SKETCHED Cupcake, SENTIMENT BUILDERS Celebrate and VIGNETTE It’s Your Day plus the bold Happy from the SENTIMENT BUILDERS Happy.

For the background I swiped my Tattered Rose distress ink pad across a piece of white card and stamped the zigzag brush stroke from the Celebrate Artsy set in Victorian Velvet across the bottom half. I then used my cupcake to stamp the border in Dried Marigold on all four sides before stamping the candle border (cake from It’s Your Day) in Rose Red (SU colour). Once all the ink had dried, I stamped my cupcake using Versamark and sprinkled some Heat & Stick powder on. It is a heat activated glue and is something I got quite a while ago (SU). You use it like embossing powder, once heated quickly sprinkle some glitter on and heat set again. I finished my card front off by stamping my sentiment in Rich Cocoa (Memento) and Chocolate Chip (SU), edged my topper with Rose Red, attached it to my yellow base card and added some doodles (Chocolate Chip SU Marker) and a sequin.

… and for the inside I stamped the sentiment and candles from the VIGNETTE It’s Your Day set combined with some more doodles …

That’s my first inspiration for our Stamps & Glitter Challenge, another one is to follow soon 🙂 …

Please pop over to the STAMPlorations Blog to see all the stunning pieces my Teamies and our guest designer  Kimberly Wiener, who won our May Challenge, came up with.

As always there is a twist, if you enter all three challenges in a calendar month, your name will be entered into a prize draw, more details can be found here.

This is it from me for today.

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

More Cupcakes

Hello Everybody,

thanks so much for your lovely entries and comments. It’s been very hard to choose with so many lovely entries.

It’s Wednesday again and time for another challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More. It is challenge #62 and Make your Mark!!!

This means colour to your heart’s content. For detailed rules of the challenge, click here.

Our sponsor for the month of September is The Paper Nest Dolls … and the winner’s prize will be a $25 gift voucher.

paper nest dolls blog

I found this lovely girlie image called Cupcakes Anyone in The Paper Nest Dolls’ shop a couple of weeks ago … and here is my DT piece using it:

Cupcakes Anyone

I coloured the image using some Promarkers before die cutting the shape. Then I used my favourite technique for adding a faux layer, which works well if the image you’re using fills the frame well. I pierced a border as a frame inside my cut out shape making sure to omit the bits of my image which are ‘overlapping’ my pierced border. I then mat and layered my image on die-cut and pierced pink card.

For the background, I cut some strips of patterned paper and layered them on light pink card. I finished my card as shown by adding die-cut shapes and a flower.

Over to you now. I love to see your creations.

If you need more inspiration check out the fabulous projects by the very talented DT Ladies at ATSM.

That’s it from me for today.

Enjoy and Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

What I used: Image – The Paper Nest Dolls; patterned paper, promarkers, button, card blank, white card – my stash; pretty in pink and melon mambo card, sizzix window frame collection, festive paper piercing pack, sizzix flower die – Stampin’Up!; flourishes – Marianne Designs

Cupcake Anyone

Hello Everybody,

thanks for all your lovely comments. Hope you all had a nice summer, unless you’re on holiday right now, which means you’re still having a nice summer. It has gone cold here over the last couple of days with all that rain moving in … on the upside it means more time for crafting as the outdoor activities slow down or come to their natural Winter Break.

I have a quick card for you today, which I emailed to the Quick Cards Made Easy for their Facebook Monthly Sketch Challenge

There's still time to get your sketch challenge entries in! If you fancy seeing your card in print, just email your take on this sketch to quickclubs@immediate.co.uk

… it is very pink and girly or shall I say for cake lovers …

Cupcake Anyone

I was working on a card for next week’s ATSM challenge using this lovely digi stamp from The Paper Nest Dolls, when I had the inspiration for working with the sketch. It is something I’ve never done before as I usually find it challenging to get my head around other people’s ideas. Maybe I am just too strong willed … or is it that I am too set in my ways … who knows. 😀

Leaving you to muse that one …

Have a great weekend and Happy Crafting!!! 🙂
