Girlie Boxes

Hello Everybody,

As promised a little more about those boxes. It took me all day Tuesday to make the 20 pizza box style, girlie boxes. Well there is cutting out, scoring, glueing, decorating … you probably got the idea. I also had a bit more on than I remembered at the time of accepting the order. It just goes to show; ‘never commit to anything without consulting your diary first’. Well I decided on some designs that should have been quick and easy to make, here they are:

I used diecut shapes as the main focus of decoration. Sometimes they can be a bit bland, try adding some texture and the whole appearance changes. This is especially true for the butterfly box, where I used the budding vine embossing folder to add texture to the background and a dotty one for the butterfly itself. I also like the effect of the organza ribbon which is simply wrapped around tree of the sides, you would never know that it is bright pink, but that’s the beauty about organza ribbon, it adapts its colour to its surroundings.

I am also entering the Butterfly box into this weeks challenge on Out of a Hat Creations which is ‘If I had Wings’. It fits well this week as I am off to the caravan again for a looooong Bank Holiday Weekend. 🙂

Sorry, I don’t have a picture of the box on its own. I took these yesterday when the sun was still shining … which it still is above the clouds today.

Here is what I used:

– Butterfly Box: sahara sand, wisteria wonder and blushing bride card stock, sizzix beautiful butterflies Bigz Die from Stampin’UP!; pink organza ribbon, beads, budding vine and dots embossing folders, crafting wire, corner rounder punch from your local craft shop

– Daisy Box: daisies #2 Sizzix Bigz Die, rich razzelberry, pretty in pink and early espresso card stock from Stampin’UP!; corner punch from Creative Memories; gems, pink organza ribbon, glitter glue from your local craft shop

– Fun Flower Box: fun flowers Sizzix Bigz L Die, wisteria wonder, cherry cobbler and pink pirouette card stock, scallop trim corner punch from Stampin’UP!; pink organza ribbon, gems, brad, dotty embossing folder from your local craft shop

That’s it from me for today. Until next week …

Happy Crafting!!!

🙂

Heart Matters

Hello Again.

Lets start with a second piece of good news which made ‘my heart sing’ in recent days. Our caravan is going to come out of ‘Winterschlaf’ (hibernation) at the end of March – just a little bit over 6 weeks to go. I am looking forward to our new site and pitch and of course to saying ‘hello’ to the local seals. 🙂 I can already see myself picnicking above their beach beside the coastal path, binoculars in hand … Sunny days!

Of course we are also getting close to Valentine’s Day … and Valentine’s Day means hearts. Today’s project is a card I made for a friend’s birthday, which is tomorrow – Valentine’s Day. Of course it had to feature a heart or two.

To keep with the girlie theme I decided to create the feel of a charm bracelet by punching 3 little hearts with a little hole and attaching them to the bow as if they were little tags. I think it looks quite cute, just fitting the lovely Lily of the Valley die cut. Hope, she will like it.

As for today I’ve got to wait in for a parcel to arrive … perfect time for crafting.

See you tomorrow.

Happy Crafting! 🙂
