The Great Escape

Hi Everybody,

how time flies, it’s Wednesday again and time for another challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More, Challenge #58 – Addicted to Colours. The colours to work with are grey, yellow and black, the names below are based on Stampin’Up!’s colours.

…. not sure if you fancy working with these??? … there is a twist for you this week … you can still enter the challenge making anything you want as long as you use a Nicecrane Diesigns image …

… which conveniently brings me to this week’s sponsor ….  Nicecrane Designs,

who will be sponsoring the next two weeks too.  The winner will receive a $20 gift certificate to spend at their online store. Pop over to the shop and have a look what fabulous images $20 can buy you …

… here is what I made for this week’s colour challenge …

The Great Escape

… as you can see I am still in my ‘I Love Cats’ mode. Again, I hear you say … but if you look closely, the card is more about the mouse who gets away … and I promise, I shall use something different next week. 🙂

The digi stamp I used is part of a Louis Wain Kitten set from Nicecrane Designs, and it is perfect for the proposed colour scheme.

I coloured my image using Promarker Pens. Wanting to do something different by giving it a sort of textured look, I allowed the image to dry and then went over the cat again using the cool grey1 marker. The sentiment is hand written using a black fineliner pen.

Just to fill you in a bit but keeping it short, Ignacio from Nicecrane Designs sources his images (as far as I am aware through the proper chanels with licences etc) and then works on them to a standard that people can buy them and craft with them.  Hours of work go into the images before they are released for sale.  They are not just taken from a website and then resold.  The print out quality of the images is fantastic.  I am just blown away by them. These are Florence’s words, but they’re also true for me.

Live Laugh Play

Hi Everybody,

how time flies, it’s Wednesday again and time for another challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More, Challenge #57 – Make your Mark.

This week ATSM’s Team are giving the prize for the challenge winner: Two fabulous sets of Digi Stamps

The Roosevelt Bears DSL1                           and The Roosevelt Bears DSL2

The Roosevelt Bears DSL 1             The Roosevelt Bears DSL 2

… by Nicecrane Designs, who will be sponsoring the last three weeks of this month. More about Nicecrane Designs later.

I know you’ll love the ‘Make your Mark’ challenge and everybody is sooo much better at colouring than I am, but nevertheless I had a go at it this week … trying to give Street Art a go …. Banksy, watch out!!! … The Tinkers are here …

Live Laugh Play

… as you can see I am still in my ‘I Love Cats’ mode. These cheeky kittens are part of a Louis Wain Kitten set from Nicecrane Designs.

They seem to have so much fun throwing balls. Initially I toyed with the idea of turning them into fur balls (cats are known for depositing them in the most unlikely places), but then I remembered the fun I had when Boris and I were playing pawball (cat speak for football) using a brightly coloured table tennis ball.

The background is sponged directly onto my base card using a couple of stencils by Fancy Pants Designs and real red, gumball green & summer starfruit inks by Stampin’Up!

I coloured my image using Promarker Pens. The sentiment is hand written and it’s background coloured using Promarker Pens, the panel itself is edged using a black stamp’n’write marker (SU). For an extra twist I decided to cut my image out using my deckle scissors. I also gave the sentiment panel two edges using the same scissors. Adding a clip. flower brad and twine finishes the card off just fine …

Victor and Vanquished

Hello Everybody,

Thanks for popping by and all your lovely comments, they were very much appreciated.

Bach again with some more cards using the lovely Nicecrane Designs Images. This time it’s for the second helping and the final two of The Adorable Louis Wain Kittens.

Let’s start with ‘The Victor’ …

The Victor I

… a somewhat battered and bruised happy chappy … much admired …

The Victor II

… as you can see. The inspiration for this card cam from some catty playtime, climbing up the neighbour’s willow tree. I also wanted to give the card a look of adventure and exploration of unchartered territories. That’s why I chose to make a lever card following Laura Lippe’s tutorial, but I changed the dimensions to suit me.

The Victor III

And now to The Vanquished ….

The Vanquished

… the one who got beaten by the elements and is lost at sea. The shadow box card style gives it the air of a picture frame on the mantle piece. Click here for the shadow box card tutorial. I wrote the instructions myself adding lots of pictures, which would have been too much for this post.

Hope you enjoyed the catty journey, back next week with some more catty adventures … in the meantime feel free to pop by the Nicecrane Designs Blog for more inspiration.

Have a great day and

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

Adorable Kittens

Hello Everybody,

Thanks for popping by and all your lovely comments, they were very much appreciated.

Bach again with some more cards using the lovely Nicecrane Designs Images. This time I am using some catty ones … The Adorable Louis Wain Kittens. As you know, I am simply unable to resist anything catty, especially anything as cute as these adorable kittens.

For today’s post I am using 3 of the 5 images, the other two will follow tomorrow.

Lady’s first … so here we go … The Belle of the Ball on a bed of roses …

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

These images are so nice that I feel reluctant to add lots and lots of embellishments. For ‘Belle’ I decided to use some pretty paper for the background and some feathers for her fan. I then simply added a brad, some die-cut swirls, thanks Sue for your lovely present, and gems. As always my choice of colours has been inspired by the image itself. I really find the colours of the pre-coloured Nicecrane Designs’ stamps easy to match to card and papers that are currently available in the shops.

Keeping with the musical theme … here is the world famous tenor Cattos …

Tenor

For Cattos, I did some decoupage. I simply printed the image twice and cut out the song sheet with part of his arm and layered it slightly offset to give more depth. Everything else was pretty straight forward, mat and layer with pretty papers and borders plus some chip board shapes for some extra interest and a touch of glitter glue to finish.

… hmmm … wonder if he is singing for ‘Belle’ ….

One thing is sure, he won’t be singing for this little fellow …

tooth ache

… who is somewhat bed bound at home. I die-cut the image with some oval nesties and blended the edges with some blue ink before matting it on an oval deckle cut piece of blue card. I then put some core-dinations card through an embossing folder, thanks again Sue for being so generous, and adhered it to my blue base card. I then cut out the sentiment which was part of the original image, stamped and cut out the ‘get well’ sentiment before assembling the card as shown and finishing off with some sparkly flowers.

Hope you like it! The two projects for tomorrow are a bit more involved. Please pop in again. In the meantime feel free to pop by the Nicecrane Designs Blog for more inspiration.

Have a great day and

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂
