Autumn Magic

Hello Everybody,

Thanks for all your lovely comments, as always they were very much appreciated.

I’ll keep this one short and sweet today as I finally went down with a cold after fighting it all week. Guess my body is telling me it wants some rest …

and of course I shall oblige after I shared some cards with you.

The first one is one I made as my entry for this month’s Autumn Colours challenge over at the Lavinia Stamps Blog.

Autumn Magic

Next up are the cards I made last week when I was one of the lucky ones who were able to attend a workshop run by Tracey and Kevin from Lavinia Stamps.

For the first one, my background was created using my brayer …

wpid-dsc_0906.jpg

for the second card, I used one of their background scenes and stamped the stars, mushrooms, circles and borders …

wpid-dsc_0905.jpg

for my third and forth card, I used a gelli printing plate to create the background and some gold foil to frame.

Hope you enjoyed my little offering. Here is the craft-along video on how I made my first card. Enjoy!

Have a lovely weekend everyone …

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

Before I forget, if you love Lavinia stamps as much as I do, you’ll find a link to their main site/shop at the top of their blog.

The Fairy and the Chocolate Monster

Hi Everybody,

thanks so much for your lovely comments, they were very much appreciated.

Today I have two projects to share with you. First up …

the Fairy …

Fairy tag

I made a tag for a change. It is one I had wanted to do for a while, ever since I started re-organizing or should I say re-chaosing my craft space. I wanted to make tags for my stamp boxes, and I made this beauty for the box containing my Lavinia stamps. All the stamps used for my little tag are by Lavinia Stamps, and I am entering it into their ‘add a ribbon‘ challenge over at their blog.

Next up is the Chocolate Monster …

chocolate monster

To make this card, i joined the digital revolution, the little monster is by Create A Smile Stamps and the sentiment …. well, I made it up myself whilst thinking about the Chocolate Challenge over at CASology  which of course I’m going to enter. I was looking up quotes about chocolate, when I came across one by George Lang and the idea for this card was born. The original quote was only half of my sentiment, the rest is born out of me reading too many Fairy tales when little … Rumpelstiltzchen kept on creeping in. That’s when this little monster came to mind, it looks a little as if it could be dancing around a fire singing this little song … what do you think?

I am also entering the challenge at Less is More where they want ‘mostly words’.

Hope you enjoyed today’s offering, back soon.

Happy crafting!!! 🙂

ATSM Challenge 96

Hi Everybody,

Thanks so much for your lovely comments. They were all very much appreciated.

It is Wednesday again and time for another challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More …  Challenge #96 – Anything Goes!!!

It is your favourite theme, and I am looking forward to seeing lots of your fabulous creations! Please take the time to check out the full details of the challenges and their rules, which can be found here.

Rick St Dennis is our new sponsor this week! There are some fab images in his shop, you can check them out here.

… and given that there is so much choice of fab images in his shop, I pushed the boat out and made …

a canvas using his Gypsy Wagon image.

Gypsy Wagon on canvas

Well I must admit, the canvas happened by accident. Initially I had planned to make a card, but then disaster struck … I had coloured my image with Promarkers and messed up the background wanting to do too much I guess. This meant I needed to cut the wagon out. Luckily this canvas was already painted (since November last year LOL) using some of the famous PapertArtsy Chalk Acrylic Paints and gesso. I dug out some of my Lavinia Stamps and Versafine Inks and stamped the border and sentiment. Once my image was dry, I sprayed it with Crafter’s Companion’s Spray and Shine varnish for protection, I glued it into position, stamped a couple of more leaves around the wheels, edged the canvas with purple pigment ink and added my little glazed heart as a finishing touch … artwork complete.

Hope that you feel inspired to maybe try something different, maybe pick up some unfinished project and to enter this week’s ‘Anything Goes’ challenge at ATSM, please pop over and see all the other creations of the fabulous ATSM DT Team.

… look forward to seeing your creations … and
Happy Crafting!!!!

Fairy Canvas

Hi Everybody,

thanks again for your lovely comments. Glad to hear that my DIY Room Freshner has inspired you to up-cycle and create your own too.

Today I want to share with you a project which is still work in progress. I have made a little canvas using the set of stamps by Lavinia Stamps from the current issue of the Papercraft Essentials Magazine. Here it is

Fairy Canvas

Once it’s framed, it will make a lovely birthday gift.

I would like to enter this canvas into the ‘Birthday Girl’ Challenge at the Lavinia Stamps Challenge Blog. Sorry I haven’t been joining in for the last two month, but time just flew by. I haven’t even managed to use my new Lavinia stamps from Hulme Hall yet …

The canvas is one I painted a while ago, but it was a bit too dark in colour to use for what I wanted at the time. This time I simply painted it with some gesso to lighten it, sponged a hint of green hills and a moon before starting to stamp my images using Versafine ink. for the finishing touches so far I added some gilding using waxes by PaperArtsy and some little dots of glitter. The canvas could be used on its own by adding some ribbon and beads as a hanging loop or it could be framed in a larger frame. At the moment I am still on the look out for the larger frame, but who knows …

I can’t leave today without a final reminder about the STAMPlorations Blog Hop. There is still time to join, simply click here and have fun or follow the links below starting at the STAMPlorations Blog. All of the stamps in the new release are on offer as a discounted bundle.

Purple Sympathy

Hello Everybody.

Thanks soooo much for all your lovely comments especially on my ‘Purple Trees‘ post. I am so glad you liked it. Special thanks to Melissa from CASology for giving me an Honorable Mention.

Today I’m back with another card using the same colours I used in my ‘Purple Trees’ card. I need to make a Sympathy Card and thought that they would be perfect for a somewhat ethereal look, which I wanted my card to have.

Purple Sympathy

I decided to use some of my Lavinia Stamps for it too, the ‘Willow’ and the ‘Birds’ stamps which can both be found here. Rather than making a larger landscape, I wanted to just give a glimpse of it and decided to try and use the sketch provided by the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge.

I masked off my card and blended the edges first with wisteria wonder, then with perfect plum and to finish with elegant eggplant inks. I then stamped one of the willows first in wisteria and then in eggplant before stamping the birds in eggplant. To finish I rounded two of the corners and added the hand written sentiment.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Lavinia Stamps Challenge Blog, where the theme this month is ‘lilac’

One Layer Simplicity, where the them is ‘repetition’

CAS(E) this Sketch, where the following sketch provides the inspiration

Hope I have Inspired you to try something a bit different. See you soon …

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

Magical Shrink Plastic

Gremlins moving in and getting side tracked …

Hello Everybody,

have you ever had days where the best plane just had to be put aside, because something else just wanted to be done???

Well I had a week of it, and I don’t know where my time has gone. On the upside I ended up making a beautiful book which I shall share with you later in the week.

First I have a card for you made using the beautiful Wishing Tree by Lavinia Stamps. I always wondered how it would look in shrink plastic, and if I could give it the 4 season effect. I thought I’d start with Winter as I wanted to enter it in the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown challenge, but I didn’t get it ready in time … the gremlins had started to move in and things started to go wrong, never mind, here it is anyway:

life is magic

I first cut the flower shape (sizzix floral framelits SU) from frosted shrink plastic and stamped the tiny snowflake all over. Next I stamped the tree in a darker colour and used my heat tool to shrink the plastic … and the snowflakes started to look like blossoms lol. I die-cut another blossom shape from blue glitter paper and layered my tree on top. I then stamped some tiny stars on white card, hand wrote my sentiment, rounded some corners, layered as shown and added some gems to finish off.

I am entering the above card into the Lavina Stamps Challenge Blog, where the theme is ‘add glitter’.

I did try to make another card using the stars instead of the snowflake, but the gremlins were still active and it ended up looking somewhat differently arty from what I had intended. Basically the shrink plastic got a bit stuck together and then wouldn’t flatten fully … and I used the wooden bit of a stamp to flatten it down … this transferred a flower image onto my plastic plus a piece of paper got stuck to the other side … well from now on I shall use my heat resistant craft mat and on old acrylic block when working with shrink plastic … here is how it turned out anyway …

dreaming tree

The sentiment I added is from the VIGNETTE Artful Flutters set by STAMPlorations.

I also made two sets of note cards in a little wallet for a friend of mine, something I posted about last year when I first made them using the stamps from the first issue of the Get Stamping Magazine. They were inspired by the Purse Paper Tutorial which you can find on Splitcoast Stampers, you can find the link to it in my previous post here.

Feather Note Cards

This is the outside of the wallet. I simply stamped the feathers in pink, rounded the edges and blended two of the corners with pink for some subtle shading. I did the same for the cards on the inside, but added the ‘just a note’ sentiment to them. I also stamped the feathers on the envelopes to match. Here is a brief look of the inside:

inside of feathers note cards

I want to use the opportunity to remind everyone that there is still time to enter the ‘Stamps and Feathers’ challenge over at the STAMPlorations challenge blog, plus the bi-weekly Sketch challenge. Links to the individual challenges are on their home page.

Oh, by the way the stamps I used for my note cards are VIGNETTE Trendy Feathers by STAMPlorations, but you do not have to use their stamps to enter the challenges!!!

To create the beautiful border and paper ribbon, I used a Tonic Studio punch.

… and here is the outside of my second set …

dandelion note cards

I used the free stamps from the Get Stamping Magazine, the current issue, plus the cute daisy corner punch which I acquired on Sunday whilst visiting the nearest Hobbycraft Store in Chester. This visit left me feeling very smug …

… when my hubby asked me how much I paid for my folding daylight lamp which I recently bought from The Daylight Company with some of my Christmas money …

It turns out that it was more than twice of what I paid according to my hubby, who saw it in the shop … or was the whole thing more about the right timing given that I had toyed with getting one for a looooong time …

Hope you got your bargains!!!

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

Dreaming Butterflies

Hello Everybody,

Thanks for all your lovely comments.

I have been playing round with using sketches, and, whilst I was doing so, I created a lovely card I would like to share with you. It a sort of developed from the sketch and took it beyond.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I rather like the idea of the butterfly burst and might use it to finish off a small canvas, I started a while ago.

I used some pretty digital papers from All About Scrapping to stamp on. These have a perfectly plain but textured and shaded look, just perfect for stamping on, you can find them here. The beautiful butterflies and sentiments are all from one set called Artful Flutters by STAMPlorations, and you can find it here. I combined it with my favourite Mini Stamp from Lavinia Stamps, found here, which I used to create the starry background.

For this card I used some simple and effective stamping and fuzzy cutting of the butterflies, blended the edges of my paper with brown ink and adhered it to my base card. I slightly blended the cut-out butterflies with brown ink and off-set two of them when I attached them over the ones I had stamped on my purpely paper. To finish I simply added some dark pink gems.

Have a lovely weekend everybody and

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

More Fairy Christmas

Hi Everybody,

Thanks for all your lovely comments, they’re very much appreciated.

Today I have another CAS card for you, this time it’s one in bright pink … for some reason ‘pink’ is my Christmas In-Colour this year. 😀

It is another card inspired by the silvery Fairy Christmas Tree from my recent post here. It cam out of me wanting to use the pink ribbon I ended up not using for my original card. I bought this narrow organza ribbon with the intention of using it in a similar way to twine. It is a great alternative as you can see for yourselves:

Pink Fairy Christmas

It is a very quick card to make, a bit of matting and layering, but not too much, embossed border, ribbon, some rounded edges and you’re ready!

The stamp I used is from Lavinia Stamps and the embossing folder came with a magazine, either Simply Cards & Papercraft or Papercraft Essentials, not sure which one it was.

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

Fairy Christmas Tree

Hello Again …

… for my second post today …

I have been using up odds and ends in an attempt to make some quick cards … and I got somewhat side tracked. 🙂

Let’s start with card where I used the odds and ends:

Fairy Christams Tree I

I recently tried out my flitter glue starter kit with this Lavinia Stamp.  Normally I would only use it with rubber stamps, but I decided to give it a go anyway. I promise I washed the glue off straight away as I didn’t want to damage my stamp. I wanted to see how it would turn out on white, but I wish I had tried it on darker card instead, never mind. I started making this card by lamplight -not daylight- and the colours seemed to match quite well only for it to have to go into the rescue pile. Above is the rescued version, initially I had used some pink ribbon and no faux stitching. To blend the colours better I used a green fine liner pen and added the faux stitching and changed the ribbon from pink to dark green. To finish I added a few touches of glitter glue.

Anyway, this card inspired me to make the card from my previous post – CAS Snowflake- plus the following two cards too:

Faiiry Christmas Tree II

I want to enter the above card into the following challenges

Lavinia Stamps Blog Challenge – Anything Goes (Hi Eileen, please let me know if you want me to email you any of these for the gallery.)

Stamplorations – Stamps & Silhouettes (Hi Shery & Nonni. I made this just as inspiration. Looking forward to get designing for you!)

52 (Christmas) Card Throwdown – Any Past 2013 Challenge Anything Goes (mine is January 2013 – metallic silver, purple & white)

Fairy Christmas Tree III

Hope you feel somewhat inspired.

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂
