Here is my DT piece for the week:

best company

This is exactly what I shall be doing today: Treat myself as my own best company … the Champagne is already on ice. 🙂

… and there is no reason why you shouldn’t do the same … and if you want to do some crafting, here is how I made the card:

I cut a piece of white card (approx. 7.5 x 9cm) and a slightly larger piece of Pretty in Pink Designer Paper (Stampin’UP!). I then got my Budding Vine Embossing Folder (craft concepts) and inked it up with wasabi ink by rubbing the ink pad across. I didn’t mind not getting an even coverage. If you prefer a more even coverage it’s best to use a brayer to apply the ink. I placed my white card inside the embossing folder and put it through my cuttlebug.

I then inked the edges of the pink paper and the embossed card with chocolate chip. I then die cut the flourish (Tim Holtz) and two butterflies (beautiful butterflies, sizzix bigz SU) from pink card. I embossed one of the butterflies with dots (cuttlebug embossing folder) and stamped a flourish in chocolate on the other one (creative elements stamp set by SU).

I layered my butterflies and added a brad to the middle. I then adhered the paper, the embossed card and the flourish as shown to a square cream base card, stamped my sentiment in chocolate, adhered the butterfly using 3-D foam pads and finished off by adding some pearls.

Please check out the designs of the team. They’re as always fabulous and will get your creative juices flowing.

Hope you join the fun at Addicted to Stamps and More.

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

Here is my DT piece for the week:

Doodeled Pets

As you can see, I went for the doodled look. I hadn’t used this Magenta stamp in a while and fancied doing something with it. I coloured the ‘three pets’ using my Stamp’n’Write Markers (perfect plum. so saffron and wild wasabi by Stampin’Up!) and stamped the image towards the bottom right hand corner. Next I stamped the sentiment (Wild Rose Studio) in perfect plum towards the top left hand corner … then I started doodling using the fine tip of my markers. For added interest I decided to use two colours, plum and wasabi, for my border. To finish I added some gems to the pets’ bow-ties.

Sound easy, and once you got the design right it’s also very quick to make. The card above is actually my 3rd attempt. Initially I used all the colours for a 3-line doodled border, it looked too heavy. Then I used too much pressure when stamping the sentiment, which lead to the lines being to thick, and it looked smudged. For the 3rd attempt I used my inkpad to ink the sentiment and my stamping mat underneath my card … so much for wanting to cut corners.

And here is how I modified my design to rescue my 2nd attempt:

Doodled Pets rescue

I stamped the sentiment again on a piece of white card, doodled a border around it, cut it out and edged the sides before adhering it over the smudged one. To balance the card off a few more gems were needed.

Please check out the designs of the team. They’re as always fabulous and will get your creative juices flowing.

Hope you join the fun at Addicted to Stamps and More.

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

New Home in Nature

Hello Everybody,

back again. Where has the week gone … well I don’t know. thought I’d better get blogging if I want to join into the Out of a Hat Creations Challenge.

There is so much I could do with and say about Nature most of which is a sort of included in the card I would like to share with you. I made it for a friend who recently moved house after having sold hers. She moved to quite a rural location, plus we are on the same caravan site on a Farm in North Wales, well that is from Easter next year again.

So we got birds, flowers, trees, leaves, bird houses … nature in short. I lightly sponged the base card in turquoise, the pink background for the panel is stamped. I tried something new here, I applied ink to my splodge mat and pressed the paper onto the mat to pick up the ink. You probably get a similar effect by inking up an acrylic block and use that as a stamp. I got the mat after having seen it used in a demo at the Stamp Fair in Hulme Hall the other week. It is very good for achieving subtle effects when brayering, and I used it in that way to create the stamped paper for the inside of the birthday calendar in my previous post.

As I said for today’s card I used it as a sort of stamp. To colour the images simply pick up ink with a blender pen. The stamp is one I had for a few years, and it is by Magenta (0439), the tags are from my stash; bakers twine, ribbon punch and inks are from Stampin’UP!

That’s it for today. See you soon.

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂
