Sketch 16 Challenge at STAMPlorations

Hi Everybody,

hope you all had a great weekend. Hoylake is calming down now after the Golf Open which finished yesterday. Luckily the weather was holding up alright apart from Saturday, when we had lots of rain, but not the lightning we were supposed to get. Did I say rain … it was a perfect day for crafting and catching up on a few things! 🙂

Back to the Sketch Challenge … we had lots of fabulous entries in our last sketch challenge, thanks to all who entered … hope you’ll join us again this time …

Next I would like to welcome my new Teamie Deepti Malik from Dee’s Art Utopia who’s stunning creations have long been a favourite of mine.

Here is our current sketch to take your inspiration from:

The challenge will run until 1st August and the winner will be announced 5th August. The prize package is sponsored by our sister shop All About Scrapping and the winner will get to pick 3 digital goodies of their choice plus you’ll be invited to be our Guest Designer in an upcoming challenge, this time we are welcoming Sue VanDeVusse from Cards by Q.

Here is my inspiration for you …

shrinked cupcakes

I have been working with the SKETCHED Cupcake and Mini Mixed Media Backgrounds sets … again … I just love using them together.

My Background is inspired by a Tim Holtz Tutorial. I found the link on Monika’s blog ‘Stamping with a Vengeance’. She very kindly shared it in her post here. It was right up my street given that at the moment I am into lifting prints off different surfaces such as embossing folders or plates, my Splodge Away Mat …. I love to explore the different effects one can get. This time I used my crafting mat, brayer, Baked Brown Sugar ink and a water spritzer. The edges are blended using Strawberry Slush ink and a shaving brush. I then stamped my sentiment in Brown Sugar, added some dots and spots from the Mini Mixed Media Backgrounds in Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana and Strawberry slush and layered onto Soft Suede and Coastal Cabana card. I then stamped my cupcake in black Memento ink onto white card, coloured it with Promarkers and fuzzy cut it. Next  I cut 3 circles from frosted Shrink Plastic, attached my coloured cupcake to one using double sided tape and attached it to my base card using 3D foam. The remaining two circles were stamped onto the rougher frosted side with my cupcake in Strawberry Slush and Coastal Cabana before heating them with my heat tool to make them shrink. Once cooled I edged them with metallic markers and attached them in place. I finished off by adding some glitter glue and a sequin to my large cupcake. Which reminds me, there is still time to enter our STAMPS & GLITTER July Challenge.

Please check out the beauties my teamies came up with on the STAMPlorations Blog.

Also just a quick reminder before I go, if you enter all three challenges in a month, you’ll be entered into an extra prize draw which this month is a lovely set of Spellbinders Borderabilitie Dies.

I shall be back again on the STAMPlorations Blog on Thursday with my Spotlight Project, until then …

Have a lovely week and Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

  1. Wow! I love this card, Monika! Hmm — I smell a cool tutorial you can do using shrink plastic! (I gotta get me some of those!) It would be great to show how to turn the regular size stamps into small ones!

  2. The un-shrunk shrink plastic makes a lovely base for that gorgeous cupcake, Monika! Love the two shrinky-dinky cupcakes too. (They’d make great earrings!)

    • Hi Bonnie. Maybe you would like to join in. You don’t have to use STAMPloration stamps to have fun with us. Would be great to see you there. Thanks for your lovely comment. Have a great day! Monika
