ATSM Challenge 80

Hi Everybody,

Thanks so much for your lovely comments. They were all very much appreciated.

It is Wednesday again and time for another challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More …  Challenge #80 – Photo Inspiration!!!

I know this will be popular as there is so much scope with this picture, hearts, Valentine’s Day, pastel colours to name just a few. Please take the time to check out the full details of the challenges and their rules, which can be found here.

This week we are welcoming Karen for a second time as our guest designer.

Our sponsor this week is Deedee’s Digis.

The winner will receive 3 digi sets of their choice.

You might remember from my post yesterday that I went to my local Hobbycraft in Chester … well I picked up a little beauty of a stamp right by the till … just perfect for our challenge.

heart of hearts

As you can see, I took my inspiration from the heart shaped box with little hearts inside and some of the pastel colours. I basically colored my stamp with markers, stamped the image and masked it off before turning my stamp back to front and stamping the broken outline with the reverse side and die-cutting in with a scalloped heart die. I then die-cut a plain heart from the centre of some white card and stamped my sentiment below before assembling my card as seen in the picture.

Hope you like it!

Hope that you feel inspired to enter this week’s ‘Photo Inspiration’ challenge at ATSM, please pop over and see all the other creations of the fabulous ATSM DT Team.

I am also entering this card in the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge for the following sketch

Please join the fun … look forward to seeing your creations … and
Happy Crafting!!!!

Cute 1st Birthday

Hello Everybody,

thanks for all your lovely comments, they are very much appreciated.

Just a quick post today. I needed to make a 1st Birthday Card for my hubby’s nephew’s daughter. Of course when they are so young one has to go for out and out cute.

Here it is:

cute 1st birthday

As you’ve probably noticed I don’t make many children’s cards hence I haven’t got much in my stash that would be suitable. Luckily I remembered that I had a set by Adam Prescott which came as a freebie with the Quick Cards Made Easy Magazine ages ago, which would fit the bill. I used two of the stamps to create my focal image. I simply stamped one, masked it off and then stamped the other image before colouring the lot with Promarkers. I also had some pretty pink paper which was suitable. I cut it to size, rounded the corners, added the daisy corners and matted & layered my image and paper on bright pink card adding a punched border (using a Tonic Studio Punch) in contrasting white as I went along. I the die-cut and stamped the ‘1st’ (Xcut dies and stamps by docrafts) initially in a lighter and then over-stamped it in a darker lilac. I then arranged them on my card and stamped the ‘Happy Birthday’ (VIGNETTE Chevrons and Arrows by STAMPlorations) before attaching my die-cuts using 3-D foam. To finish I added two punched hearts (small heart punch from Stampin’Up!) and some glossy accent highlights.

I want to enter this card into the Moo-mania challenge where the theme is Africa hoping that the zebra and giraffe will qualify.

Hope you enjoyed my card and that you feel inspired … back soon … until then …

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

Magical Shrink Plastic

Gremlins moving in and getting side tracked …

Hello Everybody,

have you ever had days where the best plane just had to be put aside, because something else just wanted to be done???

Well I had a week of it, and I don’t know where my time has gone. On the upside I ended up making a beautiful book which I shall share with you later in the week.

First I have a card for you made using the beautiful Wishing Tree by Lavinia Stamps. I always wondered how it would look in shrink plastic, and if I could give it the 4 season effect. I thought I’d start with Winter as I wanted to enter it in the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown challenge, but I didn’t get it ready in time … the gremlins had started to move in and things started to go wrong, never mind, here it is anyway:

life is magic

I first cut the flower shape (sizzix floral framelits SU) from frosted shrink plastic and stamped the tiny snowflake all over. Next I stamped the tree in a darker colour and used my heat tool to shrink the plastic … and the snowflakes started to look like blossoms lol. I die-cut another blossom shape from blue glitter paper and layered my tree on top. I then stamped some tiny stars on white card, hand wrote my sentiment, rounded some corners, layered as shown and added some gems to finish off.

I am entering the above card into the Lavina Stamps Challenge Blog, where the theme is ‘add glitter’.

I did try to make another card using the stars instead of the snowflake, but the gremlins were still active and it ended up looking somewhat differently arty from what I had intended. Basically the shrink plastic got a bit stuck together and then wouldn’t flatten fully … and I used the wooden bit of a stamp to flatten it down … this transferred a flower image onto my plastic plus a piece of paper got stuck to the other side … well from now on I shall use my heat resistant craft mat and on old acrylic block when working with shrink plastic … here is how it turned out anyway …

dreaming tree

The sentiment I added is from the VIGNETTE Artful Flutters set by STAMPlorations.

I also made two sets of note cards in a little wallet for a friend of mine, something I posted about last year when I first made them using the stamps from the first issue of the Get Stamping Magazine. They were inspired by the Purse Paper Tutorial which you can find on Splitcoast Stampers, you can find the link to it in my previous post here.

Feather Note Cards

This is the outside of the wallet. I simply stamped the feathers in pink, rounded the edges and blended two of the corners with pink for some subtle shading. I did the same for the cards on the inside, but added the ‘just a note’ sentiment to them. I also stamped the feathers on the envelopes to match. Here is a brief look of the inside:

inside of feathers note cards

I want to use the opportunity to remind everyone that there is still time to enter the ‘Stamps and Feathers’ challenge over at the STAMPlorations challenge blog, plus the bi-weekly Sketch challenge. Links to the individual challenges are on their home page.

Oh, by the way the stamps I used for my note cards are VIGNETTE Trendy Feathers by STAMPlorations, but you do not have to use their stamps to enter the challenges!!!

To create the beautiful border and paper ribbon, I used a Tonic Studio punch.

… and here is the outside of my second set …

dandelion note cards

I used the free stamps from the Get Stamping Magazine, the current issue, plus the cute daisy corner punch which I acquired on Sunday whilst visiting the nearest Hobbycraft Store in Chester. This visit left me feeling very smug …

… when my hubby asked me how much I paid for my folding daylight lamp which I recently bought from The Daylight Company with some of my Christmas money …

It turns out that it was more than twice of what I paid according to my hubby, who saw it in the shop … or was the whole thing more about the right timing given that I had toyed with getting one for a looooong time …

Hope you got your bargains!!!

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

ATSM Challenge 79

Hi Everybody,

Thanks so much for your lovely comments. They were all very much appreciated. The cold still hasn’t completely gone, but my thinking has become somewhat clearer.

It is Wednesday again and time for another challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More …  Challenge #79 – Addicted to CAS!!!

I know this will be popular, the full details of the challenges and their rules can be found here.

This week we are welcoming Karen as our guest designer.

Our sponsor this week is Deedee’s Digis.

The winner will receive 3 digi sets of their choice.

For this week’s DT piece I decided to use an image from our sponsors ‘Make a Joyful Noise’ collection, which can be found here

You Rock

… and make a masculine card … almost getting away with one layer too 🙂 which means it’s postage friendly!

I sized my image, printed it, coloured it and added a little bit of shading with Promarkers. I then cut my white panel to size and masked off the catty image before stamping the grid pattern, circles and splashes plus the sentiment. I used Marvy pens to colour my stamps. I rounded two of the corners and attached it to my grey tent fold base card.

Hope you like it!

Hope that you feel inspired to enter this week’s ‘CAS’ challenge at ATSM, please pop over and see all the other creations of the fabulous ATSM DT Team.
Please join the fun … look forward to seeing your creations … and
Happy Crafting!!!!
🙂
Apart from DeeDee’s image I used:
Promarkers cool grey 3,4,5, pastel pink, tan, cinnamon, pastel beige, pastel blue, light green and blender pen
Marvy pens salvia blue, manganese blue, citrus yellow and peppermint plus grey unbranded marker from stash
Stamps ‘Grunge Me’ by PapertreyInk and ‘Grid’ by Kaisercraft
white and grey card from my stash

Life is Better

… because of you!

Thanks to all my blogging friends and all your lovely comments I’d say … 🙂

It is time for another Sketch Challenge at STAMPlorations – Sketch Challenge 4, and this is the sketch to take your inspiration from:

I played round with it in my mind … and made one card … but, I felt it wasn’t quite right … so I cam up with the following …

Life is better I

I stamped the trees from the VIGNETTE Trees Silhouettes stamp set by STAMPlorations, you can find it here, in yellow, brown and green on white centura pearl card, cut the pieces to size, edged them with the corresponding inks and attached each to a slightly larger piece of green card. I then edged another piece of pearlised car with yellow and attached it to my green tentfold base card before cutting a slot on one side to feed my ribbon through which I tied in a knot on the inside … thought that would be a nice twist. I stamped my sentiment from the same stamp set, attached my tree panels and finished off by adding some clear gems.

And here is my second card, well actually it was the first one I made:

three flowers

For this card I used the Eclectic Florals Stamp Set and the Chevron and Arrows Stamp Set, both are part of the Vignette Range. I combined it with some matching paper from the Vintage Ice Cream Social Digital Paper range from All About Scrapping.

I thought it would be fun to have the three squares from the sketch extending into the background, That’s why I decided to stamp the vases and leaves in orange, and the ribbon became stamped chevrons. I stamped the blossoms in blue and slightly blended the edges before attaching them to my postage squares and adding a turquoise and blue sequin to each using a little brad. Faux stitching and a stamped sentiment finished the card.

Hope you like it.

Please pop over to the Challenge Blog where we welcome Cornelia to the team to see the amazing projects that my DT Teamies have created … and of course … to join in the fun. The winner will receive 3 digital products from our sponsor All About Scrapping.

Happy Stamping!!!

Happy Ever After

Hi Everybody,

thanks for all your lovely comments, they are very much appreciated. So glad you liked my recent cards.

The one for today is a Wedding Card I shall need in the near future, but it is also an inspiration for my friend Sue, who needs one sooner than I do.

Happy Ever After

I used STAMPlorations VIGNETTE Ever After Set plus Daydream Medallions and matching framelits from Stampin’Up! The couple is stamped with black versacolour ink and clear embossed on white centura pearl card, which gives it a silvery shimmer … I rather like it. The daydream medallion stamp is embossed with clear embossing powder which had some glittery bits added it’s called rainbow.

I am going to enter this card into the Addicted to CAS ‘Die Cuts’ challenge.

That’s it from me for today.

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

ATSM Challenge 78

Hi Everybody,

It is Wednesday again and time for another challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More …  Challenge #7 – Holiday!!!

Wonder what type of celebration you will have gone for, the full details of the challenges and their rules can be found here.

Again this week we are welcoming Gemma from Gem’s Little Creations as our guest designer.

Our sponsor this week is Deedee’s Digis.

The winner will receive 3 digi sets of their choice.

When I hear the word ‘Holiday’, I immediately think of summer, sun and swimming …

hence I decided to use this image of a ‘bathing beauty’ in an old fashioned swim suit for the retro summer holiday feel …

Here she is, my DT piece for this week:

Birthday Splash Red

I simply stamped her in black memento ink and coloured her using Promarkers. For the splashes, I added some highlights using glitter glue. I rounded some corners and layered my elements as shown in the picture adding some red striped ribbon and twine bow.

This birthday card is for a friend of mine who loves red … plus her birthday is on Valentine’s Day … thought it might be fitting …

Hope you like it!

Modern Christmas

Hi Everybody,

thanks for all your lovely comments, they were very much appreciated.

A quick post for today. I made a card to enter in a couple of challenges:

I thought this year I’d start early and get all my Christmas Cards done along the way, whilst entering

52 Christmas card Throwdown, where they have a colour challenge on this week.

Allsorts, where they want to see cards made using ribbon, but no bows

Here is the card I made:

Modern Christmas

I used Mavry pens to colour part of a large background stamp (‘Home for Christmas’ Urban Stamp by docrafts Papermania). I tried to pick the pens closest to the colours given, and then the purple turned out rather blue and the turquoise waas lighter than expected from the cap. Please let me know if it’s too far off … fingers crossed!

I then randomly stamped the ‘splodgy circles’ (‘Circle and dots’ Set by Inkadinkado) in turquoise and once in yellow around some of the doily shaped snowflakes. I then made a small incision towards the bottom right with my craft knife and fed the ribbon through before tying it in a knot at the front. I then stamped my sentiment on a piece of coloured card, a left over from making this card here, attached it to the front and finished off by adding some turquoise sequins.

Hope you like it!

Back soon and

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂

A little Birdie

Hi Everybody,

thanks for all your lovely comments. They were very much appreciated, and I shall catch up with you tomorrow.

Today I got a very cute card I want to share with and also enter into the following challenges:

Moo-Mania wants Birds

CAS(e) this sketch is working with the following sketch

I also want to use this as a reminder piece for the monthly STAMPlorations Challenge which is ‘stamps and feathers’

… and here is my piece:

a little birdie

I started off stamping the stitched border using a stamp from the Graphic Squares set of the Patchwork Frenzy Range by STAMPlorations in light grey, I then stamped my feathers (Trendy Feathers by STAMPlorations coloured with Mavry pens) before stamping my sentiment (freebie from Simply Cards & Papercraft Magazine, think it was issue 87 or 89). I then used my bird builder punch (from Stampin’UP!) to punch the shapes from white shrink plastic before colouring them with blossom, pastel yellow and pastel blue and stamping with one of the feather stamps and matching inks to add texture before heating them with my heat tool to shrink the shapes. Once cooled I glued them in position and finished by adding some doodled musical notes and gem.

… and her is one I was able to take outside and in focus …

a little birdie 2

Hope you like it.

Have a great weekend and …

Happy Crafting!!! 🙂
